Cash or accrual β does it actually matter for your business? π€
Cash basis records money when it actually moves β you get paid, you record income; you pay a bill, you record the expense. Simple, but it can make a slow month look worse (or a good month look better) than your business really is.
Accrual basis records income and expenses when they're earned or incurred, regardless of when cash moves. It's a more accurate picture of profitability, especially if you invoice clients or carry inventory.
Most small businesses start on cash basis because it's simpler β but if you're making decisions off your P&L, it's worth knowing which one you're looking at.
