Tax scams are becoming more common, and scammers often use text messages, emails, and phone calls that look surprisingly legitimate.

A few things to remember:

🚩 The IRS does not text taxpayers demanding payment.

🚩 The IRS does not threaten arrest over the phone.

🚩 The IRS does not ask for payment through gift cards, cryptocurrency, Cash App, or Venmo.

Most scams create a sense of urgency because they want you to act before you have time to think.

If something feels off, pause before clicking, responding, or sharing personal information.

When in doubt, verify first. 💡
