SCAM ALERT: Fake Police Calls About Missed Court Dates for COVID Funds

We’ve been made aware of a scam where people are receiving phone calls from someone pretending to be law enforcement. They claim you missed a court date related to COVID relief funds and threaten arrest if you don’t pay a fine or fee immediately.

This is 100% a scam.

Real police will NEVER:
• Call you demanding payment over the phone
• Threaten arrest for missing a court date without official paperwork
• Ask for payment via gift cards, wire transfers, or apps like CashApp

If you get a call like this:
1. Hang up
2. Do NOT give them any personal information
3. Report it to your local police department or the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov

Overtime 101: What You Need to Know

Overtime is a key part of wage laws, and understanding it can help both employers and employees stay compliant and avoid payroll issues.

What Counts as Overtime?
In most cases, overtime applies when an employee works more than 40 hours in a workweek. When that happens, they must be paid at a rate of time and a half for those extra hours.

Who Qualifies for Overtime?
Not all employees are entitled to overtime pay. Non-exempt employees, typically those paid hourly, qualify. Exempt employees, usually salaried workers who meet specific job duty and salary requirements, do not.

Can Employers Require Overtime?

What About Unauthorized Overtime?
