Here’s the thing about 401(k) contributions: unlike an IRA, you can’t make them in April. They have to come out of a 2026 paycheck. The limit this year is $24,500, with an $8,000 catch-up at 50+ and a super catch-up of $11,250 if you’re between 60 and 63. If you’re not on track to max out, call HR or log in this week and raise your contribution for the last few pay periods. Every dollar lowers your taxable income for 2026.
