🐾❤️ October Is World Animal Month! ❤️🐾

Animals don't need us to be perfect. They need us to be kind, responsible, compassionate, and willing to help. 💗

You don't have to run a rescue, foster dozens of animals, or donate a fortune to make a difference. Sometimes, the smallest actions mean the most.

🐶 Share an adoptable pet's story.
🐱 Help a neighbor care for their animal.
🐾 Support a local shelter or rescue.
❤️ Speak up when an animal needs help.
🐰 Learn how to provide the proper care for the animals in your life.
🏡 Consider fostering or adopting when you're ready.

Every animal deserves kindness, safety, and the chance to live a good life. We may not be able to help every animal we encounter, but we can make a difference for the ones we reach.

🌸 Alicia's Insight: You don't have to change the whole world to make a difference in it. Start with one small act of kindness. For an animal who needs help, that one act could mean everything.

🐾 What is one small thing you can do for an animal this week? Tell me in the comments!

🎓💰 Paying for College With Savings Bonds?

Before you cash in those Series EE or Series I savings bonds to help pay for college, take a moment to check whether you may qualify for a federal tax break!

Under the right circumstances, eligible taxpayers may be able to exclude some or all of the bond interest from federal income tax. But there are several rules to understand first.

🔎 What should you check?
✔️ Do your bonds meet the qualifying requirements?
✔️ Were you at least 24 when the bonds were issued?
✔️ Are the education expenses eligible?
✔️ Is your income within the applicable limits?
✔️ Are you avoiding using the same expenses for multiple tax benefits?

📄 Form 8815 helps determine whether the interest exclusion applies.

🌸 Alicia's Insight: Education savings can come with tax advantages, but the details matter. Before making a decision, look at how the bond interest, education expenses, and any other education tax benefits fit together.

🎓💰 Can Your Savings Bonds Help Pay for College?

Did you know that certain Series EE and Series I savings bonds may qualify for a federal income tax break when used for eligible higher education expenses? 🇺🇸

It's a benefit worth knowing about, but there are a few important rules to understand before counting on it!

🔎 Here are some things to keep in mind:
✔️ The bonds must meet the ownership and issue-date requirements.
✔️ You must meet the age requirement when the bonds are issued.
✔️ The money must be used for qualifying education expenses.
✔️ Income limits apply.
✔️ You can't use the same expenses to claim multiple tax benefits.

📄 Form 8815 helps determine whether you qualify to exclude some or all of the interest from federal income tax.

Education tax benefits can get complicated, especially when you're combining savings, scholarships, and education credits. Understanding the rules ahead of time can help you make informed decisions!

🌸 Alicia's Insight: Saving for education isn't just about putting money aside. It's also about understanding how the rules work so you can make the most of the benefits available to you.

🐾❤️ National Pit Bull Awareness Month: Pit Bull ≠ Personality

A breed label doesn't tell you everything about a dog. ❤️

Pit bulls are often judged before they ever get the chance to show who they are. But every dog is an individual, with their own personality, temperament, history, and needs.

Some are goofy and playful. Some are calm and cuddly. Some are shy and need a little extra time to feel safe. And some are still learning to trust the world around them.

The truth is, you can't know a dog just by looking at them—or by knowing their breed.

🐶 Take the time to learn their story.
🐾 Pay attention to their individual behavior.
❤️ Give them the chance to show you who they really are.

This National Pit Bull Awareness Month, let's challenge the stereotypes and encourage people to see the dog in front of them—not just the label attached to them.

Get to know the dog. Every dog deserves to be seen as an individual. 🐾💗

Rescue doesn’t have set business hours or a punch clock—it is a 24/7, around-the-clock commitment.

Early mornings, late-night runs, and vet visits are just part of the rhythm. Today, our two little white-furred cuties, Bruno and Casper, are off to the clinic to get neutered!

No future litters on our watch. At PMAR, every single animal is spayed or neutered prior to adoption—no exceptions. We refuse to risk contributing to the pet overpopulation crisis with a missed alter appointment or an accidental litter down the road. Fixing them before they go home is one of the most vital, non-negotiable promises we make to our rescue animals and our community.

Proactive veterinary care like this is why our medical bills are constant, and why we are always fundraising to keep our doors open. Every neuter, every vaccine, and every intake adds up fast.

Send Bruno and Casper all your good vibes for an easy surgery and smooth recovery today!

👉 If you’d like to chip in toward today’s vet bill or support our rescue mission, our donation link is in the first comment!

🐾❤️ National Pet Wellness Month: Know What's Normal for Your Pet!

You know your pet better than anyone! ❤️ You know their usual appetite, energy level, bathroom habits, and personality. So when something changes, you may be the first to notice.

🐶 Is your normally playful pup suddenly sluggish?
🐱 Is your pet eating less than usual?
🐾 Have their bathroom habits or behavior changed?

These little changes can sometimes be early signs that something isn't quite right. Paying attention to what's normal for your pet can help you recognize changes and know when it's time to check in with your veterinarian.

💗 A little attention today can make a big difference tomorrow. Your pet can't always tell you how they're feeling, but knowing their normal can help you speak up for them!

🐾 How well do you know your pet's normal routines? Tell me in the comments!
