Florida is one of the most estate-tax-friendly states: there’s no Florida state estate tax or inheritance tax.
But here’s the catch: out-of-state rules can still impact what your family receives if you have ties outside Florida. Your inheritance may be affected if you:
→Own property in another state (a second home, land, or other tangible assets)
→Have multi-state residency ties (or a loved one lived in a state with its own estate tax)
→Have a very large estate where federal estate tax could apply (2026 exemption: $15M per person / $30M per married couple)
If you have questions about how this could apply to your situation, call our office. We’re happy to talk it through and help you understand what to watch for.
