Labor Day is an ironic holiday. It is a day off from work to remember work, so to speak.
Traditionally, it is celebrated as the symbolic end of summer.
But this Labor Day is different. I really want to remember the worker.
I want to honor those of you who have worked your whole life through the sweat of your brow and earned your own living.
Through your work life you’ve struggled, and you’ve succeeded. Through your devotion you’ve made your career what it is today.
Happy Labor Day!

It’s time for a little Tuesday trivia!
Who was awarded a Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences for their work on Behavior Finance?
a. Daniel Kahneman in 2002 and Richard Thaler in 2017
b. Amos Tversky in 1983 and Robert Shiller in 2008
c. Milton Friedman in 1976 and Eugene Fama in 2013
d. Elinor Ostrom in 2009 and Paul Krugman in 2008
The correct answer is A. Thanks to their pioneering work, we all have a better understanding of the role our own behaviors play in making smarter financial decisions…and reaching our long-term financial goals.
(Note that the others also contributed to the field of Behavior Finance, but were either not awarded a Nobel Prize, or were awarded Nobel Prizes for other things.)

🎉 Happy Senior Citizens Day! 🎉
August 21st is National Senior Citizens Day! Ronald Reagan made it a national holiday, and in his proclamation he said, “For all they have achieved throughout life and for all they continue to accomplish, we owe older citizens our thanks and a heartfelt salute. We can best demonstrate our gratitude and esteem by making sure that our communities are good places in which to mature and grow older—places in which older people can participate to the fullest and can find the encouragement, acceptance, assistance, and services they need to continue to lead lives of independence and dignity.”
Let’s take a moment to honor and appreciate the wisdom, experience, and contributions of our beloved senior citizens. 🧓👵 They have played an instrumental role in shaping our society and have so much to offer, from their wealth of knowledge to their inspiring life stories.
We believe in fostering an inclusive and diverse community that values every generation. 🤝 We encourage everyone to take the time to listen to and learn from the experiences of our seniors. Their insights are invaluable as we face the challenges and opportunities of the future.
Whether it’s playing games, giving a gift, or taking the time to listen to their life stories,, let's make an effort to reach out to a senior citizen. Show gratitude for their presence, and make them feel appreciated, because they should be.
Share a story or memory of a senior who has made a positive impact in your life in the comments below, and let's spread the love and respect they deserve! ❤️

529 plans have been around for decades, and although they’re a college savings vehicle that continues to grow in popularity, a number of misconceptions about them continue to float around...

Here are some of the biggest myths about saving for education using a 529 plan.👇

⚠️Myth #1: 529 Plans Are Only for Children's College Costs

Fact: 529 plans aren't just for young children. Individuals can open and save with a 529 plan for their own college or graduate school expenses, naming themselves as both owner and beneficiary on the account. And in recent years, the uses of 529 plan funds have broadened.

⚠️Myth #2: Families NEED to Contribute a Certain Amount

Fact: There are actually no requirements to contribute a certain amount in most 529 options, and no income requirements for families contributing. In theory all you need is $1 to open the account; you don't have to contribute after that. (Of course, if you can, you should!)

⚠️Myth #3: Families Can Only Open a 529 in the State in Which They Reside

Fact: Most 529 plans allow families to participate from out of state. This means it may be a smart move to shop around and find the best fit before committing to a plan.
Funds in these educational savings accounts can be used for colleges outside a student's state of residence as well.

Focusing On the Present Bil Keane Quote
Sometimes children give the best advice.
Recently a young boy was talking with his mom about his day at school. He had gotten marked down that day for talking out of turn. As he mentioned his day’s troubles, he told his mom: “Today wasn’t the best of days, but it was the only one I had.”
Sometimes our days are not the best. The market can take a huge drop, a good friend could lose a job, or things could just not go well in general. Regardless of what occurs each day, it’s the only day we have today. We can’t go back or forward to a better day. We must live today.
No matter what happens each day, we can do what it takes to make it a good one. When the market drops, for example, we can recognize how it happened and review our plan, making any necessary long-term changes.
I hope that your day is a good one, and as always, I am here to help.

The coronavirus pandemic has inspired so many people to help others, and there are so many examples of that across the US. It made me really happy to see a large company like Mazda step in and personally thank one of these good Samaritans for their efforts…
When health care workers were running out of personal protective equipment as the coronavirus pandemic spread across the United States, a middle school shop teacher in New Jersey made up his mind to help.
Jason Erdreich turned his own home into a factory where he used 3D printers to make thousands of protective masks for his community during the pandemic.
Now Jason is one of 50 people recognized by Mazda to receive a new Mazda MX-5 Miata 100th Anniversary Special Edition for their “selfless acts, creative thinking, and contributions to their community,” the company announced in a press release earlier this week.
The company cited “omotenashi” — the Japanese culture of putting other’s needs first as one of the major reasons the company decided to create the Mazda Heroes program.
Jason inspired the one thing we all need during this time of uncertainty, he inspired Hope. It’s beautiful to see a selfless person like Jason be recognized for efforts!
