🚨 ADVOCACY ALERT 🚨 The Internal Revenue Service on Wednesday announced tax relief for individuals and businesses in Florida affected by . Affected taxpayers now have until Feb. 8, 2027, to file various federal individual and business tax returns and make tax payments.

The extension applies to Baker, Bay, Calhoun, Citrus, Columbia, Dixie, Escambia, Franklin, Gadsden, Gilchrist, Gulf, Hamilton, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Lafayette, Leon, Levy, Liberty, Madison, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Suwannee, Taylor, Wakulla , Walton, and Washington counties.

In addition to the IRS announcement, the Florida Department of Revenue granted its own Corporate Income Tax filing extension for those same 27 counties through Feb. 23, 2027.

Since Isaias made landfall on Friday, the FICPA has been working around the clock with both state and federal officials to secure this relief on behalf of our members and their clients in the Panhandle.

We extend our gratitude to Gov. Ron DeSantis, Florida lawmakers, and DOR and IRS officials for working with us and providing this much-needed relief.

🚨ADVOCACY ALERT🚨 Gov. Ron DeSantis on Tuesday announced at a press conference in Jay that he is working with the federal government to secure tax-filing relief for those impacted by ahead of the Oct. 15 deadline.

“We’re going to do it,” the governor said. “The feds will validate it. … Likely it will be, whoever is in the state of emergency will be able to get an extension on those tax-filing deadlines. That will happen. I approved that today. … So people can count that that’s going to happen.”

The FICPA has been working around the clock with state and federal officials since Friday to secure this needed relief. We thank Gov. DeSantis, state officials and state lawmakers for working with us on behalf of our members and their clients.

As pleased as we are to hear that relief is on the way, please be advised: Until the Internal Revenue Service officially announces an extension and names specific counties, members and their clients should continue to work toward the Thursday, Oct. 15, deadline.

We will update our members with official communications from the Executive Office of the Governor, the White House, FEMA and the IRS as they become available.
