Miles Financial Group

Miles Financial Group It is who we are. Families across Southern California have trusted our team to help them move from saving for retirement to living in it.

An independent family-owned financial services firm located in the Inland Empire, specializing in assisting families with retirement planning through comprehensive investment strategies, tax planning, and estate planning. We are an independent, family-built financial services firm in California’s Inland Empire, and helping families prepare for retirement is not simply what we do. That shift, from building your savings to making them last, is the heart of our work. We call it retirement income planning, and it is a different conversation than simply asking how much you have saved. Our work rests on three values we call our Trifecta: Faith, Family, and Education. On that foundation we build The Peace of Mind Retirement Plan™, our planning process, made up of five pillars: Income, Investments, Tax, Healthcare, and Estate. Because our family also includes the estate planning attorneys at BC Miles Law Group, we bring your financial and legal planning together under one roof, something many firms refer out. Wherever you are on the road to retirement, our goal is to help you walk it with clarity and confidence. Peace of Mind for the Miles Ahead. Insurance services are provided by MILES Investment and Insurances Services. Investment advisory services are offered through Triad Wealth Partners, an SEC registered investment adviser.

Myth #5: "Life insurance is only for people with dependents."

Protecting dependents is the most common reason people buy coverage, but it isn't the only one. Even without children or a spouse, coverage may address:

• Final expenses: funeral and burial costs can exceed $10,000 to $15,000
• Debt coverage: co-signed loans can transfer liability to a co-signer
• Business obligations: funding a buy-sell agreement or key person coverage
• Future insurability: applying while young and healthy
• Legacy and charitable goals: leaving assets to a cause, an institution, or future heirs

The right policy depends on your goals, your obligations, and what you want to leave behind.

That wraps our five-myth series. If any of these raised a question about your own situation, we'd welcome the conversation.

Myth #4: "Stay-at-home spouses don't need coverage."

A stay-at-home parent may not earn a traditional salary, but the contribution is real and measurable. Western & Southern estimated in 2026 that replacing that work, including childcare, household management, meal preparation, transportation, and more, would cost between $42,946 and $52,610 a year. If those services had to be purchased, the working spouse would face significant added costs, potentially including full-time childcare and housekeeping.

Coverage decisions should reflect the full financial contribution of every household member, not just paycheck size.

Most people fill out a beneficiary form once, at a new job, in a stack of onboarding paperwork, and never look at it again.

That form matters more than most people expect. On retirement accounts and life insurance policies, the designation on file generally governs where the benefit goes, regardless of what a will says.

Five life events that should send you back to it:

· A marriage or a divorce
· A birth or an adoption
· The death of a spouse or a beneficiary
· A job change or an account rollover
· Retirement, or getting close to it

If any of those changes have happened since your last review, give us a call. We’re happy to sit down for a complimentary consultation across your accounts and policies. No obligation.

Myth #3: "My employer's coverage is enough."

Group life insurance is a valuable benefit. It is rarely sufficient on its own. Most workplace policies offer one to two times annual salary, which leaves a gap once you account for a mortgage, outstanding debts, future education costs, and long-term income replacement.

There's also the portability problem. When you leave a job, either by choice,
by layoff, or by retirement, that coverage usually disappears immediately. InsuranceNewsNet reported in 2026 that over 49% of households relying solely on employer coverage say they would struggle financially within six months of losing a primary earner.

Worth asking: what happens to your family's financial picture if that coverage goes away tomorrow? Myth 3 of 5 in our series.

Myth #2: "I'm young and healthy. I don't need it yet."

We hear this often, and we understand it. But premiums are calculated largely on age and health at the time of application,
which means waiting even a few years can raise the cost of the same coverage. Health can also change without warning.

Applying while you're well helps protect your insurability and may result in more favorable rates.

If you have a growing family, a mortgage, or decades of income still ahead of you, this is worth a look now rather than later.

Some conversations are worth sitting all the way through.

Billie Miles sat down with Ruth Klein on The Book Club and talked about retirement, yes, but also about his father, faith lived out through actions, the family behind Miles Financial Group, and what it really means to leave something to the people who come after you.

Thank you to Ruth Klein for the invitation. Pour a cup of coffee and watch the whole thing.

Labor Day is the one holiday that honors the ordinary workday, and the ordinary workday is what builds a retirement.

Every plan we help put together was funded the same way: one shift, one paycheck, one year at a time, decades of showing up, mostly without anyone noticing. Today is the day to notice.

To everyone in our community who is still doing that work, and to everyone who has already finished it, thank you.

Our office is closed today and will reopen on Tuesday at 9 a.m.

National 401(k) Day lands on September 11, and it is a good reason to open two documents most of us have not looked at in years.

First, your beneficiary designations. Marriages, births, moves, and losses all change who should be listed, and the form does not update itself.

Second, your life insurance coverage. The amount that made sense when the mortgage was new may not match the life it protects today.

They are worth reviewing together rather than separately. If you would like a second set of eyes on either, give us a call — we are glad to walk through it with you.

Peace of Mind for the Miles Ahead.
