August was a dream and September was a blur so thank goodness for photos!

(even though my phone’s storage keeps yelling at me for taking so many)

From a magical trip to Santa Fe to lifting heavy weights and a trip to the dentist office in between, here’s a little glimpse of my life lately

I cannot stress enough how much these questions and doing them *immediately* after a meeting/pitch/event/whatever have helped me grow leaps and bounds

For example, here’s my reflection after yesterday’s Connection Day 36 Square Venues :

•Did Well:
got there early, remembered business cards, wore appropriate outfit that looked cute aaaaaand allowed me to be comfy during the mini sound bath

•Would Do Differently:
someone asked me what kind of clients I worked best with & I kinda fumbled that answer. I also didn’t do a great job of returning that question to her

•What did I learn:
I really enjoyed the vibe of this networking event & space, I met Linda and learned about her passion for comms strategy

See? Easy peasy and insightful AF

One roadtrip my dad gave me a hundred bucks & said I could keep it but every time I said ‘like’, I had to give him a quarter

I don’t think we made it out of the driveway before I burned through that $100

Some things never change 💁🏻‍♀️ like my love of an amazing photoshoot!

A moment for the details

My magpie heart will always be fascinated with the little fluffs and baubles that go into making the sweeping gestures of a brand

Then my wedding photographer background enters the group chat and I need a whole Details Moment 😂

Cut to me rifling through Jenny Elton | Live Painter ‘s paint kit finding the *perfect* paint tubes and dodging fat bumble bees in the flowers (what an awkward time that would’ve been to find out if I’m allergic to bees)

But these detail shots! Ah! Tooooootally worth it!!

Because these little gems are hard AF workers in your visual identity portfolio!

They allow you to:
•Show examples of your work
•Give a glimpse into how you do what you do
•Allow people to get a sense of what it’s like to work with you (and want to hire you 😉)
•Add visual interest to your website
•Are great backgrounds to text overlay for when you know you need to post something on social media but don’t want to mess with getting ‘camera ready’

And, most importantly…adds depth to your story.

Why be generic & boring when you cooould have bespoke imagery

Let’s get specific. Let’s share what sets you apart. Let’s gain trust with your audience because you’re a real person and are really amazing at what you do!!!

Plus I also just really want to r***e through your cool stuff 💁🏻‍♀️

And mayyyyyyybe some of these are already in the works and I am SO exited about them!

Of course I have a part 2 (and then prob a part 3, part 4…) because you know my maximalist heart can’t stop dreaming

First thing first, I wish I was as cool as Harlan

He walked in and said ‘I want to take pictures with my sunglasses & a toothpick…and I brought my skeleton’

The vision was 100000% there

This shoot brought to life an idea I’ve been kicking around for a while…
What if we let the kid be the creative director?

They pick their favorite outfit, bring a few items they’re obsessed with right now and decide the poses & vibe

And I help them bring the vision to life

These little snapshots of who they are
Their imagination
Confidence
Playfulness
Kindness
& the things they think are the coooooolest things in the world…it all changes so quickly

It’s like trying to catch lightening in a bottle

Orrrrr maybe an 8x10 (sorry, I had to make the dad joke)

I had an absolute blast bringing Harlan’s vision to life and now I want to do a million more photoshoots like this

I love being out & about in client meetings & photoshoots, but behind the keyboard is where all the magic really happens

Coding transactions, generating financial statements & distilling alllll that beautiful bookkeeping data into a customized insights report…all of which magically appear in my clients’ inbox every month

Then there’s photo editing magic to make sure every image is *perfect* and my client’s gallery feels cohesive so they can show up online with confidence

So shout out to all my fellow 🦐 out there! Makin magic happen and hoooooopefully working on our posture
