I specialize in taxes for the self-employed — because not everyone gets a W-2.

Beauty professionals, truck drivers, business owners, Uber drivers, bartenders, DJs, and independent contractors — if you earn income outside a traditional job, I’ve got you covered.

You may have heard about the new “Trump Accounts” for children born between 2025–2028, so here’s a quick breakdown:

A Trump Account is a long-term investment-style savings account created for eligible children born in the U.S. during those years. The goal is to help families start building financial security early, similar to a starter investment for a child’s future.

How do parents get started?
• Eligible children must be born in the U.S. between 2025–2028
• Parents can elect the account when filing their tax return or open the account directly through the official Trump Account platform when available
• Contributions grow over time and are intended for future qualified use

If you had a baby recently or are expecting during this timeframe, this is something to plan for early.

As always, your tax professional can help make sure the election is done correctly and that your child qualifies before anything is filed.

✨ More info coming as IRS guidance continues to roll out.

Friendly Tax Reminder 🚨
Over the last couple days, I’ve seen a few returns get rejected because clients didn’t realize they had a Form 1095-A or thought it didn’t apply to them.

If you had Marketplace insurance at any point in 2025 — even for part of the year — a 1095-A is required to file your taxes. This includes clients who later switched to SoonerCare or had mixed coverage during the year.

To avoid delays or rejections, please log into Healthcare.gov to:
✔️ Confirm whether a 1095-A was issued
✔️ Download and print it if available
✔️ Check if one is still being mailed

This form is used to calculate your premium tax credit, which can lower your tax bill or increase your refund — so not having it could mean leaving money on the table!

Having this document before filing helps ensure a smooth and accurate tax return. If you’re unsure whether this applies to you, feel free to reach out before we file 💚

✅ Personal-use vehicle with a loan in your name (leases don’t qualify)

💰 Up to $10,000 per year in car loan interest may be deductible
📉 Phases out over $100K income ($200K married filing jointly)

📌 Can my teen file their own taxes AND I still claim them?

Yes — both can be true, but it has to be done correctly

If you have a teen (including 17-year-olds) who worked and needs to file their own tax return:
✔️ They can file their own taxes
✔️ You may still be able to claim them as a dependent

Key requirements:
• Your child lived with you more than half the year
• You provided more than 50% of their support
• Your child checks the box that says “Someone can claim me as a dependent”

🚫 Common mistake that causes IRS rejections:
When a child files first and marks that no one can claim them — this can delay refunds and require amendments.

💡 Pro tip:
Always prepare the parent’s return first, then file the child’s return correctly to avoid issues.

‼️As you start the 2026 tax year, take control of your finances by leveraging additional tax withholding - a savvy strategy for middle to higher-income individuals to avoid unexpected tax liability.

When your income fluctuates due to bonuses, multiple jobs, self-employment, or side hustles, standard withholding might not be enough. By proactively withholding extra, you'll better cover your tax obligation, mitigate IRS debt risks, and dodge penalties and interest.

Update your Form W-4 to include a small extra amount withheld from each paycheck, gradually covering your tax responsibility and minimizing filing-time stress. Now's the perfect time to seize this opportunity!

📌 Important Tax Filing Tip

If you or anyone on your tax return had Marketplace health insurance, we must include Form 1095-A before filing.

✨ This helps:
• Prevent IRS letters
• Avoid refund delays
• Ensure your credits are calculated correctly

If you’re still waiting on your form, that’s okay — we’ll file as soon as it’s available.

📲 Message us if you need help downloading it from Healthcare.gov.

🚨 Form 8332 Could Be the Difference Between a Rejected Return or a Refund 🚨

Non-custodial parents:
Paying child support or having a court order does NOT automatically give you the right to claim your child on your taxes.

The IRS requires Form 8332 signed by the custodial parent.

No form = no Child Tax Credit.

Let’s make sure you’re filing correctly and protecting your refund.
