Focus Advisors served as exclusive advisor to Key Collision in the sale of its Southaven, Mississippi collision repair center to Crash Champions.

The Southaven operation had many of the attributes national buyers are prioritizing in today’s market: strong operating performance and established insurance relationships, serving a busy metropolitan market.

The transaction marks Focus Advisors’ third announced transaction in the past two weeks. Key Collision’s 10-shop New England platform was acquired by Caliber Collision, Superior Collision in Marquette, Michigan was acquired by CollisionRight, and now Key Collision’s Southaven operation has joined Crash Champions.

The activity reflects continued strategic buyer demand for high-quality collision repair businesses across a range of markets and operating models.

Focus Advisors' 2026 Mid-Year Review reveals collision repair industry slowdown with fewer transactions but record buyers. Discover trends and future outlook.

A record field of buyers competed for collision repair assets in the first half of 2026. They closed fewer transactions than in either of the prior two years. Both statements are true, and together they describe a market recalibrating rather than retreating.

Excluding Ge**er's acquisition of Joe Hudson's, acquirers added 81 locations in H1 — below the pace of 2024 and 2025, but distributed across the broadest set of buyers we have tracked in this industry. The Big Four turned selective, prioritizing integration and organic development. Smaller PE-backed platforms grew five to seven times faster. A new tier of acquirers, including Collision Partners, Minuteman, and Collision Leaders, began building platforms one shop at a time.

Capital has not left the sector. More than 130 private equity firms remain actively engaged, with over $9 billion deployed since late 2023. What changed is deployment strategy, not conviction.

We think this is a pause rather than a trend. Our expectation is a marked step-up in activity as we approach the fourth quarter and carrying through 2027.

Our 2026 Mid-Year Review covers the full deal record, buyer-tier analysis, acquisition density by region, Tesla's expanding footprint, and the leadership changes reshaping the major consolidators.

Different drivers, different gears.

CCC Intelligent Solutions—the dominant software platform for collision repair shops—is exploring strategic alternatives with Morgan Stanley.

For collision operators, this could bring investment in product development and feature enhancements. It could also mean management distraction during transition, potential pricing changes, or shifts in product priorities depending on the buyer.

CCC Intelligent Solutions Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:CCC) surged about 15% in premarket trading after a Reuters report said the software company is exploring strategic alternatives, including a possible sale. According to sources cited by Reuters, CCC has hired Morgan Stanley to oversee the process and ha...

More cars got written off in 2025 than ever before. Total-loss frequency reached a record 23.1% of all collision claims (CCC), and the rules around it keep moving. Rhode Island's legislature just voted to raise its total-loss threshold to 85%, its second increase in two years, and the bill is now sitting on the governor's desk. As cars get more expensive to repair, where a state draws the line between "repairable" and "total loss" carries more weight than it used to.

A bill awaiting the governor's signature would raise the threshold to 85%, the second increase in two years.

Most collision repair owners sell their business once. Buyers do it dozens of times a year. A peer-reviewed study of 3,000+ private company sales found that sellers with professional representation received 6–25% higher valuations than those who went without.

We wrote about what that asymmetry looks like in collision repair specifically — and where it shows up in real deals. 🔗 The Cost of Exiting Alone https://focusadvisors.com/2026/05/the-cost-of-exiting-alone/
