This month, we are sharing a story that is a powerful reminder of what people can accomplish when they come together with a shared purpose.

Inside the Charlotte Convention Center in North Carolina, 6,500 volunteers worked around the clock to build over 10,000 beds in just 24 hours for children who did not have one of their own. Lowe's employees rolled up their sleeves alongside thousands of others to support the charity Sleep in Heavenly Peace, an organization dedicated to ensuring no child sleeps on the floor.

The effort was extraordinary in scale. Two hundred miles of raw lumber were transformed into 10,027 finished beds. Work was divided across 16 lines, with hundreds of people moving in sync through cutting, sanding, assembling, and finishing. When the tools finally went quiet, thousands of beds were stacked and ready for delivery to families across 36 states through 110 Sleep in Heavenly Peace chapters.

As one medical director of sleep medicine noted, without consistent, high-quality sleep, children can fall behind in ways that affect both their health and their learning. What these volunteers gave was more than just a bed. It was a foundation for something better. This story is a beautiful reminder that when people show up for one another, even the biggest goals become possible.

There’s something in the air—crisp mornings, changing leaves, and the welcome feeling that fall is on its way in New England. 🍂

Around Franklin, it’s a wonderful time to slow down and enjoy the season: take in the views of The Last Green Valley, explore local history at the Woodward Museum, browse a good book or community program at the Otis Library, or make a day of it with a visit to a local farm.

However you enjoy autumn, we hope it brings you plenty of fresh air, good company, and a little time to appreciate all that makes our corner of Connecticut special.

What is your favorite fall tradition in the Franklin area?

September is home to some truly remarkable moments in history. From breakthroughs in medicine to the furthest reaches of space, these are the kinds of milestones that remind us of what becomes possible when human ingenuity, courage, and determination come together.

Here are three we are celebrating this month:

🫀 September 2, 1952 - At the University of Minnesota, the University of Minnesota surgical team (Drs. F. John Lewis, C. Walton Lillehei, Mansur Taufic, and Richard Varco) performed the first successful open-heart surgery using a technique called hypothermia, often called “code chill” or “code cool,” to temporarily stop the heart's blood flow.

🚀 September 5, 1977 - NASA launched the Voyager 1 spacecraft, which has since become the most distant human-made object ever to travel through space. Onboard is the Golden Record, a carefully assembled message from Earth intended for any extraterrestrial life that may find it.

🏗️ September 30, 1935 - In the middle of the Great Depression, construction on the Hoover Dam commenced, a monumental feat of engineering that was finished two years ahead of schedule.
These moments continue to inspire us to think bigger, reach further, and never underestimate what is possible.

Which of these September milestones resonates with you the most? Drop a comment and let us know!

A large position in one stock, business, or other asset can increase risk, especially if that position has grown over time.
Now is a good time to evaluate how much of your net worth is tied to a single asset and consider whether adjustments may be appropriate. Reviewing potential tax implications and exploring gradual rebalancing or diversifying strategies can help create a more balanced approach.

Our team can help you assess your exposure and identify strategies that align with your long‑term goals. Connect with us to start the conversation.
