The IRS just introduced a new way to prove your tax compliance.

It’s called the Tax Compliance Report, and you can access it through your IRS Online Account.

Unlike a traditional tax transcript, it provides a detailed look at your filing and payment history and includes a digital IRS certificate to verify its authenticity.

You can use it for loan applications, job applications, government benefits, and more.

I’ve been saying this for YEARS… and somehow every tax season somebody still brings me a list of “business expenses” that looks like they totaled up their entire life. 🤦🏽‍♂️😂

“Meals — $18,000”
“Amazon — $11,000”
“Travel — $9,500”
“Miscellaneous — $24,000”

Me: What was the $24,000 miscellaneous expense?

Client: “Business stuff.”

Ladies and gentlemen… “BUSINESS STUFF” is not an IRS expense category.

And before TikTok University’s School of Taxation comes for me:

NO — putting something on your business card does not automatically make it deductible.

NO — mentioning your business at dinner does not turn date night into a board meeting.

NO — answering an email from the beach does not magically turn your family vacation into a business trip.

NO — buying a G-Wagon and putting your logo on the window does not mean Uncle Sam bought you a Mercedes.

And my personal favorite:

“But this guy on TikTok said you can write the whole thing off!”

Perfect. 😂

When the IRS sends the notice, please forward it to since apparently he’s your accountant now. 😭😂

Listen, I LOVE tax deductions. I want my clients to legally pay the LOWEST amount of tax possible.

But there’s a huge difference between tax planning and just throwing every purchase you made last year onto a spreadsheet and saying:

“JP, see what you can do with this.” 😂😂

I can do a lot.

I cannot perform miracles.

And no, buying something with your business debit card does not magically make it a business expense.

Dinner with your spouse because you discussed the business for 45 seconds? 👀
That family vacation where you answered two emails? 👀
That 85-inch TV because you might watch a business webinar on it? 👀😂

Come on now.

Personal is PERSONAL.
Business is BUSINESS.

Take every legitimate deduction you’re entitled to. Keep proper documentation. Have an actual business purpose. And build a real tax strategy instead of getting your tax education from a 37-second Reel with a Lamborghini in the background. 🤦🏽‍♂️😂

The goal isn’t to see how many expenses we can throw at the tax return and hope nobody asks questions. The goal is to take every deduction you’re legally entitled to, document it properly, and have a tax strategy that actually makes sense.

Because “some guy on Instagram said I could write it off” is NOT the conversation you want to have during an audit. 😂

Want to know what you can ACTUALLY deduct and how to structure your business to legally minimize taxes?

We practice tax avoidance, not tax evasion.

One is tax planning.

The other one comes with a completely different type of “government housing.” We’ll help you save money on taxes legally. Because orange jumpsuits are not tax deductible. 😂😂

The IRS Notice Nightmare Nobody Talks About!!!

One of the most frustrating parts of being a tax professional today is receiving a call from a client who just got another IRS notice after we've already responded, submitted documentation, corrected the issue, or spent hours working to resolve it.

From the client's perspective, it can sometimes look like their CPA or tax professional isn't doing their job. Trust me—we understand why it feels that way.

The reality is that many tax professionals across the country are fighting an uphill battle against IRS backlogs, automated notice systems, and processing delays that are completely outside of our control.

One of the most common questions we receive is:

"Why is the IRS still sending notices when we already sent them the information they requested?"

The answer is often frustratingly simple: the IRS and its automated systems don't always work at the same speed.

In many cases, taxpayers or their representatives submit the requested documentation, corrections, or explanations on time. However, before an IRS employee has the opportunity to review that information, the IRS's automated notice system may continue generating additional letters.

A few reasons this happens:

✅ IRS correspondence processing can take months.

✅ Different IRS departments often do not communicate with each other in real time.

✅ Automated notices continue while responses are waiting to be reviewed.

✅ Mail, faxes, and uploaded documents must be processed before they reach the appropriate employee.

As tax professionals, we frequently monitor IRS transcripts and account activity because they often provide a more accurate picture of what's happening than the notices themselves.

The important takeaway: Receiving another IRS notice does not automatically mean your response was ignored or that additional action is immediately required.

If you receive an IRS notice, don't panic—but don't ignore it either. Have a qualified tax professional review it and determine whether the IRS is simply catching up to information that has already been provided.

Behind every notice is often a tax professional who has already spent hours working on your behalf, waiting for the IRS to catch up.

The tax system can be complicated. Our job is to help you navigate it with confidence.

The IRS said in a statement that it will continue operations under the current lapse in appropriations until further notice, using funding from 2022 legislation. Taxpayers can expect IRS operations to continue as normal, with offices maintaining regular hours, online self-service help tools available and other services continuing as usual.

Anyone who has OT pay in 2025, please bring in your last pay stub to reflect your total OT pay for 2025, as it will not be on your W2. It will be on your W-2 next year, for 2026. We need this to complete the specific new form to activate it.

FYI: Also, the deduction is for the half portion of the time and a half pay. OT is still taxable, just the half portion isn't up to a certain point.

The U.S. has a marginal tax system, which means your income is taxed in layers. When you move into a higher bracket, only the last dollars you earn are taxed at that higher rate. Everything below stays taxed exactly the same.

So earning more money never makes you take home less money because of taxes alone.

This misunderstanding matters because it leads people to make bad decisions. Turning down raises. Avoiding extra work. Not negotiating pay. Or missing out on tax strategies that actually work in their favor.

Once you understand marginal tax rates, planning gets much clearer.

For example, when you contribute to a traditional 401(k), you’re not getting a flat tax break. You’re reducing income at your highest marginal rate. That’s the top slice of your income, the most expensive dollars from a tax perspective.

So if you’re in the 24 percent bracket, every dollar you defer into a 401(k) avoids being taxed at 24 percent today. Not 10 percent. Not your average rate. Your top rate.
