For the first time in 20 years, employment trends for college grads and non-degree holders have completely diverged:
👉🏻 Without a degree: Job conditions for ages 22–34 are near 20-year highs due to high demand in skilled trades and in-person services.
👉🏻 With a degree: Young grads are finding it harder to secure entry-level roles as AI takes on entry-level desk tasks and candidate pools grow.

Your 401(k) may be one of your most valuable financial assets. Are you treating it that way?
Today is National 401(k) Day — a great opportunity to pay attention to this major part of your long-term financial security.
Here's a piece of 401(k) history you may not know:
The 401(k) was almost an accident.

Seriously.

Today, your 401(k) may be one of your most important financial assets. But here's the surprising part:

It wasn't originally designed to become the retirement powerhouse it is today.

Back in 1980, benefits consultant Ted Benna discovered that an obscure provision of the tax code could be used to create a tax-deferred retirement savings plan.
A bank client rejected his idea because it had never been done before.

So Benna tried it at his own company.

And the rest, as they say, is retirement-planning history.

Even more interesting? Benna was reportedly considering leaving the retirement-planning business to become a Quaker minister when he made the discovery.

Fast-forward more than 40 years, and the 401(k) has become a cornerstone of retirement planning.
Which raises a more important question:

What is YOUR 401(k) doing for you?
Are you contributing enough?
Are you getting the full employer match?
Is your investment strategy appropriate for your goals?
And do you have a plan for what happens to that money when you retire?
