I have a strong affinity for ice cream and promoting local small businesses. Stopped by Mr P's Homemade Ice Cream shop, tried their butter pecan flavor and coconut flavors for my mother, which was exceptionally delicious. There's no better treat than ice cream during the summer. If you never visited stop by and try it out. They are located on Nostrand Ave near Linden Blvd.

Upwards and Onwards!

As we approach the conclusion of Caribbean Heritage Month, we are pleased to have supported the Juneteenth celebration in Canarsie this year. The event featured the black history in Canarsie, murals along the Rockaway Parkway North Corridor, local artists, prominent blackowned businesses, vendors, and a Taste of the Corridor. As we look forward to our 15th year next month, I enjoyed spending time with Felix Peli and seeing firsthand the remarkable work being done by the team at Environ in Hollywood, Florida. Love to see how businesses can work together, I met Care4Pest Services during COVID and wanted to assist, and they became a valued client, also had a Custom veggie bowl with the international flavor at My Favorite Spot during our business lunch. Recently, we had the opportunity to present our financial literacy programs to students in the Upward Bound Program at St. John's University, held at Long Island City High School in Astoria, Queens. The students utilized this opportunity to explore setting savings goals as they participate in the Summer Youth Employment Program and prepare for college in the fall. I am extremely proud of the class of 2026 🎓. Many of these students lack access to banking services, so I provided information on opening savings accounts with a minimal initial deposit of $5 at various financial institutions. You may not be aware that the New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection introduced the In-School Banking Program in November 2025 as part of the Financial Literacy for Youth Initiative. According to their website, students who have access to savings accounts are seven times more likely to attend college and exhibit improved financial capability.
