Whether you've saw it, read it, or heard it, the market has been up and down lately. One of the hardest things is not to let your emotions get too involved and make an irrational decision. A horror story I heard from one of my clients was during the 2008 Recession; they had taken all of their money out of the stock market and put it into a savings account. Their money grew minimally over 14 years, and they realized acting irrationally by taking their money hurt them more in the long run.

A story I tell to most of my clients is when I helped someone from making a huge mistake. We inherited a client, and they had not had a review in quite some time. We went through their entire account and realized a name we did not recognize as a beneficiary. When we met with the client, we made them aware of this and realized the person named as a beneficiary was no longer a part of the family. There was tension, and the person was no longer connected to the client we inherited. The client was so relieved that we found this, and they were able to designate the correct people to inherit their wealth.
