Today we are pleased to hand over the keys to a brand new golf cart to assist our cancer patients getting too, and from their appointments. We would like to express our extreme gratitude to those who have contributed to the CarolinaEast Foundations “Journey of Hope” to make this possible. Thank you.

We’re truly 💔 Our thoughts and prayers go out to Shawn’s family and the crew at Beartown Bistro.

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Shawn Hoveland, owner of Beartown Bistro & Pizza Company.

Shawn was so many things to so many people. He had an incredibly kind and generous heart, along with a goofy, silly side that could always make you laugh - or, every now and then, roll your eyes.

He was passionate about the things he loved, especially Beartown, the food he created, and the life he built. He loved to write, something anyone who followed his weekly special posts certainly knew. He of course loved to cook, and above all else, he loved being a father.

This is a tremendous loss for everyone who knew and loved Shawn. We ask that you please give our Beartown family the time and space to process, grieve, and navigate the days ahead together. We will be taking things one day at a time, and Beartown will continue to stay open because it’s truly what Shawn would have wanted.

Please keep Shawn’s family, friends, the Beartown team and the community that loved him in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

Shawn will be deeply missed. 🤍
