I want to thank you everyone for their confidence in us. When I came to the business in 2007, to help mama, I was completely overwhelmed. She brought me into the business but Barbara Fisher carried me through the years. Those two women are the ones the started and built Volens Tax Service from the ground up. They would be so proud. Good morning, We are open to take care of your tax returns. We are open Monday - Friday 9-5. If you can not make it during working hours, we have a drop box on the front porch. I check it every morning. Thank you and be safe.

Due to snow and icy conditions, the tax office has been unable to open this week. With more winter weather expected this weekend, and for everyone’s safety, in-person visits will remain limited—even though I’m hoping to have the driveway cleared later today.

Just wanted to let everyone know the office will be open this year, we have not closed. Due to telephone, internet, and heating issues we have not been able to open until now. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. We will finally be able to open tomorrow morning 1/14/2025 at 9 AM.

While everyone is working on submitting their 2023 taxes, now is a good time to review your payroll tax withholding for 2024. The new payroll tax tables, put in place a couple of years ago, do not require employers to withhold as much federal taxes as they have in the past. Also, the state W4 forms no longer have the option for exemptions you may need to review that withholding at the same time. We are seeing many returns with reduced refunds due to these tax tables; some are even owing taxes when they normally get refunds.

Please take a moment to review your paystubs and submit an updated W4 for the federal and state to your human resource department, if necessary.

While everyone is working on submitting their 2022 taxes, now is a good time to review your payroll tax withholding for 2023. The new payroll tax tables do not require employers to withhold as much federal taxes as they have in the past. We are seeing an uptick in clients with less than 10% in federal taxes withheld. Where this will not pose a problem to some, it may result in many having a drastic reduction in there refund for 2023 and others may owe taxes even if they have not owed in the past.

Please take a moment to review your paystubs and submit an updated W4 to your human resource department, if necessary.
