An HSA or FSA card was declined. Does that mean the patient is out of money?

A decline could be caused by:
❌ An ineligible expense
❌ An expired or inactive card
❌ The date of service
❌ Missing documentation
❌ An incorrect merchant classification
❌ Insufficient available funds

Our latest blog explains why HSA and FSA cards get declined—and gives practice staff a practical process for keeping the patient conversation helpful and the payment moving.
