But listen — the goal is NOT to just make the number as big as possible.

The goal is to prepare an ACCURATE return, claim what you’re actually eligible for, document what needs to be documented and keep you out of unnecessary problems later.

I want my clients excited about their taxes… but I also want them PROTECTED.

Accuracy matters.
Due diligence matters.
Doing it the right way matters. ✅

If they had a job and received a W-2, PLEASE keep it!!!

Do not throw it away.
Do not leave it sitting in their backpack until March 😂😭

A child having their own income does not mean you should guess how the tax rules apply.

Bring the documents and ASK.

Keep:
✅ Their W-2
✅ Other income forms they receive
✅ Their personal information
✅ Any tax documents that come in their name

If you use an IRS IP PIN… please don’t wait until the day we’re filing your return to start looking for it 😭😂

That number is IMPORTANT.

Before tax season:
✅ Know whether you have an IP PIN
✅ Make sure you can access the IRS information you need
✅ Keep the PIN PRIVATE
✅ Do NOT post it in comments or send it around publicly

I’m trying to save us BOTH some stress 😂💕

Do NOT throw away those school tax documents!!!

If your child is in college, keep education records together as they come in.

You may see things like:
🎓 Form 1098-T
🧾 Tuition/payment information
📚 Scholarship or grant information
📂 Other school records your tax preparer may ask about

Education tax benefits depend on the situation, so I’m not saying everybody automatically qualifies for something.

I’m saying KEEP THE PAPERWORK!!! 😂

Put it in the tax folder NOW so we’re not searching emails in January.

Please don’t wait until tax season to start looking for everything 😭😂

Go ahead and make that baby a little TAX FOLDER 📂

Keep things handy like:
✅ Baby’s Social Security information
✅ Date of birth
✅ Important residency/medical records if needed
✅ Childcare information if you paid for care
✅ Any other documents your tax preparer asks you for

Having a new baby can change your tax situation, but everybody’s situation is different!

So ASK QUESTIONS EARLY and keep your paperwork together.

🚨 if you look at your federal withholdings and see no money has been taken out it’s time to increase that withholdings

✅ If your drivers license is expired let’s get that renewed

✅ have you checked to make sure your address is correct for your Market Place insurance?

✅ Have you updated your address on the IRS website so that you get your IPIN on time?
