Noah Winstead, CFA, CFP - Strategic Wealth Partners - Northwestern Mutual At Strategic Wealth Partners, I help people all across the US build wealth with simple, strategic financial principles. Hi! My name is Noah Winstead.

If you want to optimize your journey to financial freedom, let's talk. I'll help you make a clear plan to build wealth. I am a private wealth advisor with Strategic Wealth Partners, a boutique financial planning and advisory firm in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. My passion is helping the next generation of dreamers and achievers build generational wealth. People in their 20s-40s have been neglected by the financial industry for far too long, and I've built a process that lets me meet people where they are in life, regardless of career progression or income level. No matter the number of 0's attached to your net worth, I strongly believe that anyone could benefit from a quick conversation with me about the strategies and philosophies I share with my clients. If you're ready to take the first step to building generational wealth, shoot me a message. I can't wait to hear from you.

One of the main reasons I’m so convicted with what I do is my experience in a job I used to have.

I love the idea of people being able to manage their personal finances and investments themselves.

I loved the idea so much that I excelled in my role with one of the biggest retail brokerage firms in the world helping people do just that…

But what I saw there from individual investors troubled me.

Often times they made the worst decisions possible for themselves.

They sold their investments when the markets declined in fear of losing more… right when their bets were most likely to turn around.

They were day trading stocks and options when they didn’t understand the risks of what they were doing.

They were operating under the assumption that they could beat the market when the numbers tell you that even professionals who research investments 24/7 almost always fail to beat their benchmarks.

Now, I take over these decisions for my clients and let them get on with their lives and what they are uniquely skilled at while I do what I’m uniquely skilled at… which is advising them on their finances

I’m blown away every day with the value I’m able to provide for clients, and I’d love to tell everyone more about it.

Families who make over $250k per year get a lot of value working with me, but the biggest thing they get might surprise you.

It’s accountability.

I help my clients get clear on what they want to accomplish, then I help them implement a plan to achieve it. Then I help hold them to the plan while still being somewhat flexible and definitely providing optionality within the plan.

That might look like pushing you to make sure your savings rate stays at 20% when you get a big raise or have a big year in your business. But letting you save less than that in a one-off year with the expectation of getting back on track in the near future.

It might be holding you accountable to making an uncomfortable move that helps you pay less in taxes long term but maybe eat some taxes in the short term.

It’s holding you accountable to maintaining an abundance mindset and expecting more from yourself in your career.

I’d argue that 90% of the value you get from an excellent advisor is behavioral.

People tell me all the time that I help them sleep better at night, and we deliver crazy value to clients with our planning. Let’s talk about it.

Everything feels insanely expensive these days, and you shouldn’t be surprised by it.

People have been complaining about inflation ever since currency was first widely used in ancient times. All of our great grandparents and grandparents heard their great grandparents and grandparents complain about it too.

In general, the government (through the Federal Reserve System) likes to see inflation at a cool 2% or so. That’s because as the economy and our resources grow, they are printing money all the while for us to all pay for the cool stuff we can now all buy.

The problem is that it seems to have gotten a little out of control over the past 5 years. I too have noticed that everything seems to have doubled in price.

Things getting more expensive isn’t problematic though when you own assets that are also getting more expensive like real estate, stocks, or personally own a business. The market has far outpaced inflation over the past 100 years, and it has over the past 5 too.

Inflation was even worse back in the 1970s and 80s, routinely above 8% and sometimes upwards of 13%. That’s almost twice as bad as today.

And no, you don’t want things to get cheaper. The last time that happened meaningfully was the Great Depression, and no one was very happy about it. You wouldn’t be either because most people would lose their jobs if something comparable happened.

All of this is a long-winded way of saying that inflation doesn’t feel great, but you don’t have to worry about it if you save and invest your money. Find a way to make more money, cut expenses, or preferably, do a combo of both. Then quit worrying about it.

This is my face when I see a GIGANTIC cake and.... some people's stock/bond mix

What are stocks and bonds?

The average person doesn’t know the answer to this question.

It’s an important one to know if you aspire to wealth one day.

A stock is ownership in a company while a bond is a debt you extend to a company

If you know a business owner, say a hair salon owner, that person is a stockholder in their own business.

You can do similar things by buying stocks in corporations around the world in numerous ways

That same salon owner might go to a bank to get a loan for a new building to grow their business

They will pay interest to the bank along with repaying the original sum received

This is similar to bonds issued by companies and governments.

Traditionally, stocks offer more upside potential while being riskier while bonds provide less upside but are considered safer.

Most people will own or have exposure to both of these things at some point in their life.

The appropriate mix for your portfolio depends on countless factors.

One of the most important decisions you will ever make is how much you allocate to these two broad types of financial instruments

That’s why clients turn to me to make the decision for them.

One of the most common objections I get from potential prospects is that they don’t want to put in the work necessary to get a financial plan in place

The all-in time spent talking with me from our introductory call to implementing my recommendations is usually 3-5 hours up front and then 2-3 hours per year thereafter once you are a client of mine. That’s a small price to pay to get on track for financial independence.

Most of that time is spent directly speaking to me. The only real legwork that my clients typically need to do on their own is compile statements from old investment accounts and look up figures on their monthly bills.

I’ve learned that people who say no to me aren’t actually rejecting me. They are almost always rejecting themselves. I know the work that I do is some of the most impactful, high-leverage stuff in the world.

Do you find yourself constantly putting off your finances? I’ve found that I have a unique ability to get people to take action on improving their financial lives. I’d love to chat and see if you are a candidate for the kind of work I do.

You are in your 50s, have had a great career, and feel like you are on the cusp of being able to retire.

You saved religiously, got the kids out of the house, and feel like you socked enough money away to maybe be able to retire. But now what?

A lot of people have no idea how to shift from being paid a stable paycheck to having to spend down their nest egg. Most people’s nest eggs look something like this in their mid to late 50s.

401k: $1.4mm

Roth IRA: $200k

Traditional IRA: $400k

Non-qualified assets: $500k

Home Equity: $400k

But they have absolutely no clue which accounts they should pull from, in what order, and for what reasons in retirement. And that’s because shifting from receiving pay checks to paying yourself is an incredibly difficult concept.

That’s where I’ve found myself to provide some of my best value. I build retirement projections for people, and we optimize the order of withdrawal from different accounts to maximize net of tax retirement income.

We then go a step further and make sure that your nest egg is invested in a way that allows you to sleep well at night. The last thing I want is for you to trade your job stress for market stress.

And for one last kicker, we do all of this planning and account for what you want to leave behind to the next generation. I work best with people who want to create generational wealth and are charitably inclined.

If this sounds like something you or someone you know is struggling with, let’s have a chat. And if you want to create these problems for yourself by building the wealth in the first place, I can help there too. You need to either have a plan or plan for mediocrity. Happy Friday!

People who have over $250k of household income have different problems. They’re good problems to have, but most people don’t know how to solve them.

The tax bill starts biting hard at this income level. Direct Roth IRA contributions start to become unavailable. You start building a pretty big lifestyle at this income level too typically.

And these are the problems that an experienced advisor like myself can bring extraordinary value toward solving.

1. We make sure that we leverage strategies and think proactively about your tax burden, not only for the coming year but for the decades to come.
2. We help you find and leverage all of the tax favored places to invest and save your hard earned money to maximize risk-adjusted, after-tax returns.
3. And arguably most importantly, we help hold you accountable to save enough money to create a retirement and save for your other goals in a way that will let you maintain the standard of living you have gotten used to.

People in their 30s and 40s that make over $250k per year are at a crucial juncture in their life. You can make decisions today that will set you up for a life you used to dream about over the coming decades. Most high-earning professionals in this category are too busy with their work and families to optimize all of these things, and that is where we step in to create value at Strategic Wealth Partners.

If this sounds like you - in your 30s or 40s, making great money, and wanting to set yourself up for a wealthy future - reach out to me to schedule a complimentary consultation. We will discuss what you’re doing right and where I see opportunity to improve your situation.

Mississippi State gave us the true football fan experience Saturday night.

14-0 lead to 24-17 deficit to 31-24 win was quite a ride.

It reminds me of the journey of life and investing in particular. It’s easy to see progress early on, then we hit some setbacks and have to get back on track.

Usually Mississippi State football never gets back on track, but the start of this season seems to be bucking that trend (having the best quarterback in school history can certainly help that)

In my work, I help people navigate the inevitable setbacks in their wealth building journey.

The market takes a dive.

Their cash flow takes a hit.

They don’t get the promotion or big sale they expected.

But I help them get back on track every time.

The most important thing is having a process and trusting it. I hope Mississippi State can keep doing just that, and I know I’ll be able to help clients do the same.

“My employer does all of that for me”

I hear this a lot from people when the topic of retirement planning comes up

And they are dead wrong.

Why?

Your 401(k), 403(b), and 457 plans were designed for the average employee, not you. It’s still a great tool to use, but you have to consider a few things:

- It’s a one-size-fits-all approach that fails to consider anything about your unique financial situation. These plans are a great piece to your plan and should be utilized, but by themselves they are not sufficient.
- Even maxing it out ($23,500 per year) could be insufficient to build your retirement savings adequately if you make over $250k per year
- Depending on the type of contributions you are making, you might be just kicking the tax can down the road and making it worse for yourself. Your employer probably isn't helping you think about this
- If you need the money before age 59 1/2, you’ll have to pay a 10% penalty to access the money in most cases.

If you're ambitious and want to maximize your financial situation, you have to go deeper than the retirement tools your company provides. I don’t care where you work.

If you’re fine with average results, it’s totally fine to stick with the average solutions that you get through work.

With a little forethought though? The difference in outcomes can be astounding.

What are some real examples of ways I’ve helped people this year?

Onboarded tens of millions in new assets to be invested in our active/passive investment models. I believe the returns will speak for themselves over the coming decades

Provided dozens of 401(k) investment allocations to clients

Helped one client reposition a non-qualified annuity to a regular brokerage account so that he pays the taxes instead of his kids paying them on the gains in the annuity after his death. Moves like this can save tens of thousands in unnecessary taxes.

Guided young clients to building up emergency accounts. Some have used money market mutual funds at my firm, others have used some other great HYSA’s I point people to.

Helped a couple correct their asset allocation. Had way too many bonds in their portfolio relative to their risk tolerance.

Got families adequately protected with 10-20x their annual incomes in life insurance death benefit.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Making big moves in 2026.
