With heavy hearts, we remember Timothy “Tim” Lee Frazier, founder of Dixie Roofing, who passed away on September 23, 2026, at the age of 68.

Tim was one of our first clients when we began as Newsome SBBS in 1996. He was much more than a client, he was a lifelong friend to many of us at Newsome’s, and we are grateful for the friendship we shared.

A hardworking and kind man, Tim loved his family and his dogs. He will be deeply missed, and our hearts are with his family, friends, and everyone whose life he touched.

A Service of Remembrance will be held Friday, October 2, at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, Alabama. The family will receive friends beginning at 3:00 p.m.

For those who would like to support his family, a GoFundMe has been established to help with funeral expenses:

Today, we join millions around the world in remembering the incomparable Dolly Parton.

Dolly was far more than a country music legend. She was a songwriter, actress, businesswoman, philanthropist, and a shining example of kindness, humility, and generosity. Through her timeless music, joyful spirit, and Imagination Library, she brought comfort, inspiration, and opportunity to generations of people.

Her remarkable talent made her an icon, but her loving heart made her truly unforgettable. Though the world feels a little less bright today, Dolly’s music, compassion, and extraordinary legacy will continue to touch lives for generations to come.

Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, and everyone mourning this tremendous loss.

Rest in peace, Dolly Parton. Your beautiful legacy will always live on.

Planning to claim a deduction for non-cash charitable gifts worth more than $5,000? Don’t let missing documentation put your deduction at risk.

The IRS generally requires:

✅ A written acknowledgment from the charity
✅ A qualified, independent appraisal
✅ A completed Form 8283 with the required signatures

These requirements can also apply to cryptocurrency and other digital assets. Missing even one step could cause an otherwise legitimate deduction to be denied.

Received an IRS letter? Don’t panic — and don’t assume it’s real.

Scammers are getting more sophisticated and are sending fake IRS notices that look surprisingly legitimate. Even real IRS letters can sometimes contain errors or confusing information.

Before you respond, make sure you:
✔️ Verify the letter number and details
✔️ Double-check the amounts and personal information
✔️ Avoid calling numbers or scanning QR codes listed on suspicious notices
✔️ Contact the IRS directly using official IRS.gov resources
✔️ Reach out to a trusted tax professional if you’re unsure

Recently, scammers have targeted taxpayers with fake refund notices and fraudulent IRS correspondence designed to steal personal and financial information. A quick second look could save you thousands.

If you receive a letter and aren’t sure what to do, Newsome’s Tax & Accounting is here to help you separate fact from fraud.

Contact us today before taking action on a suspicious notice.
