My first official tax season as a full-time, self-employed business owner is in the books! ❤️

What a year it has been!

Taking that leap and going out completely on my own was exciting, scary, and everything in between. There were long days, late nights, plenty of coffee, and moments when I wondered what in the world I had gotten myself into. 😂 But looking back today, I wouldn’t change a thing.

To my clients: THANK YOU! Whether you’ve been with me from the beginning or trusted me with your taxes for the very first time this year, I am beyond grateful. You are the reason I get to do what I love every single day.

To my family and friends: Thank you for believing in me, encouraging me, putting up with the crazy hours, and supporting this dream of mine. I couldn’t have done it without you.

And to everyone who has shared my business, recommended me, or sent someone my way: You have no idea how much those referrals mean to a small business owner. Word of mouth has helped me build something I’m incredibly proud of.

I started this journey with a dream, a whole lot of determination, and the hope that I could build something of my own. Today, I’m closing out my first full-time tax season feeling incredibly blessed.

I’m not done growing, learning, or chasing bigger goals. In fact, I feel like I’m just getting started! 💪

💰 EA vs. CPA — What’s the Difference?

I get this question more often than you might think!

An Enrolled Agent (EA) and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) are different credentials, but when it comes to taxes and helping small businesses manage their finances, there is a LOT of overlap.

📚 An Enrolled Agent is a federally licensed tax professional. EAs specialize in taxation and are authorized to represent taxpayers before the IRS. That means we can prepare tax returns, handle IRS notices, work through tax problems, and represent clients before the IRS.

📊 A CPA is licensed by a state board of accountancy. CPAs may work in taxation, but their credential covers a broader accounting field and can include services such as audits, reviews, financial reporting, consulting, and more.

Heres an update on my life! One more test until CPA! Stay tuned! Thank you to all of you for supporting me!

Prime rib, family, and one hell of a reason to celebrate.

Tonight I got to sit around the table with my husband and my two beautiful blondes and celebrate passing AUD. The people who have lived every late night, every early morning, every stressed-out study session, every sacrifice, and every moment of doubt right alongside me.

This journey was never just mine.

To my husband—thank you for being my rock when I was exhausted, frustrated, and determined to keep pushing forward. To my girls—thank you for sharing your mom with textbooks, flashcards, and practice questions more times than you should have had to.

There were people who questioned whether I could do this. People who underestimated me. People who thought I’d eventually give up.

I didn’t.

Every setback became fuel. Every obstacle became motivation. Every “maybe you should slow down” became another reason to keep moving forward.

Tonight was a reminder that hard work pays off, persistence matters, and sometimes the best response is simply succeeding.

One exam left.

The finish line is finally in sight, and I’m running straight for it.

Here’s to family, faith, grit, stubborn determination, and proving that dreams don’t have expiration dates.

Under the Iowa sky, we’re still kicking ass, taking names, and getting the job done.

January is ending which means those W2s should be coming! Call for your appointments!

This year comes with some big changes: higher standard deductions, a boosted Child Tax Credit, expanded state and local tax deductions, and new breaks for tips, overtime, and even car loan interest which could mean larger refunds!

The IRS is phasing out paper refund checks, so direct deposit is now the fastest (and safest) way to get your money typically within 21 days. Certain credits like EITC (earned income tax credit) and Child Tax Credit may take longer to arrive.
