A stronger business year can still lead to a tax bill you didn’t expect.
Many business owners don’t realize how much they may owe until tax season, even though the issue usually started months earlier.
I break down why this happens, what often gets missed during the year, and what to review before year-end.

A lot of people talk about putting your kids on payroll as a tax strategy, but very few talk about the cost of doing it incorrectly.
The structure matters.
The documentation matters.
And mistakes can become expensive very quickly.
There’s a lot of misinformation online, so I’m thinking about putting together a webinar to break it all down properly. 👀
Have you ever looked into putting your kids on payroll?

Many business owners hesitate to work with a fractional CFO because of what they think it involves.
A lot of those assumptions aren’t accurate, and they’re often what delay getting the right support.
The right time isn’t when everything is clear. It’s when decisions are getting bigger, and you want more confidence behind them.

One of the questions I hear most from women considering this path is how to talk about it with their future child.
For me, it’s never felt like something heavy or complicated. It’s something I’ve always approached with intention, openness, and a lot of love.
There’s no one “right” way to do this, but I believe it doesn’t have to be a big moment. It can be something that’s shared naturally over time, in a way that feels simple and true.
If this is something you’ve been thinking about, I hope this gives you a starting point.

Happy Haitian Flag Day 🇭🇹
A day to celebrate culture, resilience, and everything this flag represents. Grateful to share these moments and traditions with my daughter and carry them forward.

Most people assume tax preparation is just about submitting documents and filing on time.
But what really matters is what gets caught before your return is filed. The questions asked, the gaps identified, and the details reviewed can change your outcome more than you think.
If you’ve ever wondered what a good tax preparer should actually be looking for, I break it down in this blog.

My business is important. I care about the growth, the numbers, and the impact. But being present with my daughter matters too. That’s actually the whole point.
There wouldn’t be much value in a business running at 100% if I was missing the moments that made me choose this path in the first place.
That balance doesn’t happen by accident. It comes from being intentional with how the business is built, how decisions are made, and what actually gets prioritized.
That’s something I hold myself to, and something I guide my clients through as well. A business should support your life, not take you away from it.

Small Business Month is a good time to step back and look at how your business is actually operating.
Growth doesn’t come from doing more, it comes from making better decisions with the right information behind them.
A few small shifts in how you track, plan, and structure your business can change everything.
Which one do you want to improve first?
