They’re actually two different things.
Downloading transactions brings the information into QuickBooks. Reconciling verifies that what you have in QuickBooks actually matches your bank records.
Without regular reconciliation, you could end up with duplicate or missing transactions, incorrect categories, and financial reports that don’t accurately reflect your books.
