Closed books aren't the finish line for us. They're the starting point.

Recently, one of our clients called with a real question. Cash was tight, and she needed to know how much to borrow and how to pay it back on a timeline that made sense.

Because our team wasn't buried in closing out last month, we had the time to dig into her full financial picture and hand her a clear plan the same week she asked.

That's the difference between a firm that just records what happened and one that helps you decide what happens next.

Here's the thing about closing your books on time: it isn't just about tidy numbers. It's what frees us up to actually help.

Want a team with the time to look ahead with you? Send us a message.

Opening your financials shouldn't feel like opening a bill you're scared to look at.

For a lot of owners, it does. When you don't know what you're looking at, it's hard to tell a good month from a bad one.

The fix isn't a finance degree. It's a small habit. Try this once a week for 15 minutes:
📊 Compare your sales to the same week last year
📊 Look at your prime cost (food, beverage, and labor together)
📊 Check your cash on hand against the bills due in the next two weeks

Three numbers, once a week. Keep it up and you'll start to spot patterns before they turn into problems.

The more often you look, the more normal it feels. And the better you understand your numbers, the better you sleep at night.

If something doesn't make sense, ask. Send us a message and let's talk it through.

If you run a restaurant that uses DoorDash, Grubhub, or Uber Eats, you already know the payout that hits your bank account is never the full sale amount. Fees come out first. Sometimes refunds and adjustments do too. If your books just record the deposit that lands in your account, you're missing what actually happened with that sale.

We ran into this with a multi-location restaurant group recently. The delivery platform activity had never been broken out from regular sales, which meant nobody could say for sure how much those platforms were really costing in fees versus how much revenue they were bringing in. Once we separated it out, the picture changed fast.

If you're not sure what your delivery apps are really costing you, start here:
➡️ Pull last month's deposits from each platform and compare them to the actual order totals
➡️ Add up the fees separately instead of letting them disappear into the deposit number
➡️ Check whether refunds and adjustments are being tracked, or just absorbed into a lower payout
➡️ Ask what percentage of each order is actually reaching you after fees

If you can't answer these off the top of your head, that's worth a closer look. Send us a message and let's take a look together.

A client called us recently, stressed. Cash was tighter than she'd ever seen it, legal bills were piling up, and she was trying to keep things afloat without worrying her husband.

She just needed someone to tell her how much she needed to borrow, and when she'd have it paid off.

Our team spent time in her numbers, worked through her fixed costs, her revenue, and her upcoming bills, and came back with a real plan. A number she could borrow. A date she'd have it paid back by.

Not just relief. A plan that let her sleep better at night.

That's the part of this work that matters most to us. Numbers don't mean much until they help someone breathe a little easier.

If money stress is keeping you up at night, send us a message. Let's find you a plan too.

Your P&L says you made money. Your bank account says otherwise.

Both can be right. They measure different things.

Your bank balance shows the cash you have today. Your profit and loss statement shows whether you earned more than you spent over a period of time. Here are a few reasons the two don't match:

📊 Loan payments. The interest shows up on your P&L, but the principal doesn't. It still leaves your bank account.
📊 Inventory. You paid for that case of w**e or pallet of flour, but it doesn't hit your P&L until it's used.
📊 Sales tax. It sits in your account, but it isn't your money.
📊 Equipment. A new walk-in drains cash now but gets expensed over several years.
📊 Owner draws. They lower your cash but aren't a business expense.

Running your business off your bank balance alone can lead to bad calls in both directions. You need both numbers to make good decisions.

If your profit and your cash never seem to line up, send us a message. We're happy to help you find the gap.

A multi-location restaurant group came to us with books that hadn't been cleaned up in a while. Nothing looked broken on the surface. Bills got paid, payroll went out, and everything seemed fine. But once we started digging, we found old receivables that were never going to be collected, bonus amounts that were accrued and never reversed, and expenses booked to the wrong entity within the group.

None of it was a crisis on its own. Together, it meant the numbers on paper didn't match what was actually true about the business, and that gap gets wider every month it goes unaddressed. A clean set of books is about more than looking organized: it's about being able to trust what you're looking at.

If it's been a while since your books got a real review, send us a message.

A client's business recently grew into two related companies instead of one.

Different names, different day-to-day operations, but for months the money still moved like it was one business. One account covered bills for both. Expenses got split by memory instead of by record.

That worked, until we sat down with the books. Neither entity's numbers told the real story on their own. You could not tell what one business actually cost to run versus the other, and that makes it hard to make good decisions for either one.

This is one of the fastest ways a growing business loses track of what each part is really doing for it.

If your business has grown into more than one entity and the accounting has not quite caught up, send a message. Let's get it separated the right way.

A monthly report only helps if you know how to read it.

Accounting is a language, and we don't expect our clients to speak it. Our job is to translate.

That's why we treat monthly financials as a conversation, not a delivery.

Each month we:
📊 Walk through the numbers together
📊 Explain what changed and why
📊 Connect it to the decisions you're facing right now

This is what we mean when we talk about the ANC Difference. We speak your language.

If your reports are piling up unread, send us a message.

A client called recently needing to know how much to draw from her HELOC to get through a slow stretch, and how fast she could pay it back.

Normally, finding that answer means pulling apart years of financial statements across multiple businesses to find her true fixed costs. That kind of work usually takes days.

Our team used AI tools to move through her numbers quickly, and had a real answer for her in about an hour. She needed to make a decision, not wait around for one, so she could move on the HELOC right away instead of sitting with a hard call still hanging over her.

That also meant her regular financial work didn't get pushed aside while we worked through it. She got a fast, clear answer to a question that mattered, without anything else on her account falling behind.

We don't use AI to get things done faster for the sake of speed. We use it so our clients get real answers when they actually need them, without the rest of their business having to wait in line behind one urgent question.

Want a team that can move at the speed your business actually needs? Send me a message.

One of our brewery clients spent two years wanting to open a second location but couldn't get a straight answer on whether the first one could actually support it.

Their old reporting could tell them what happened last month. It couldn't tell them what next year could look like.

We rebuilt their reporting around forecasting, not just historical tracking. Real cash flow projections tied to the seasonality their brewery actually experiences, not a generic template.

Six months later, they had the answer, backed by numbers they trusted enough to sign a lease on.

That's the job. Not just telling you where you've been, but giving you enough clarity to decide where you're going.

Send us a message if you're trying to answer the same kind of question for your business.
