Local Mom Tip: Don’t Forget the “After Taxes” Conversation

Tax season can feel like survival mode for a lot of families. Between school drop-offs, sports practice, homework, and trying to get dinner on the table, most parents are just trying to get the paperwork done and move on.

But once the taxes are filed… many families start asking the next question:

“Okay… what should we actually be doing with our money?”

That’s where a local resource can really help.

We recently connected with Jana Martinez, a McKinney Finanvial Planning Adviser

If you’re a parent who’s juggling a lot and just wants someone local on your side to help make sense of it all, Jana may be a great resource to connect with.

Sponsored: Meet Jana Martinez, ChFC®, WMCP®, CBDA®

Jana is a McKinney-based financial advisor serving families in McKinney and the surrounding Collin County areas. As a Chartered Financial Consultant®, she helps families organize, protect, and plan their financial lives with intention.
As a wife and mom, she understands that financial decisions aren’t just about money — they’re about caring for the people who depend on you. Jana works with families to think through estate planning considerations, beneficiary designations, and long-term financial strategies designed to support their goals and values.

Her approach is steady, educational, and relationship-focused, helping families feel confident and prepared for every season of life.

For general financial planning purposes only. Not tax or legal advice.

Proud to share that I’ve officially earned my CBDA® — Certified in Blockchain & Digital Assets certification.

This designation reflects advanced education in blockchain technology, digital assets, custody considerations, and the evolving regulatory landscape — all through the lens of responsible, long-term financial planning.

The CBDA® is an educational designation issued by DACFP, a FINRA-affiliated organization. It is not a FINRA license and does not authorize the sale or recommendation of digital assets.

For me, this wasn’t about trends or speculation. It was about gaining real technical understanding so conversations around crypto and digital assets can be grounded in education, risk awareness, and thoughtful strategy.

What this allows me to help with:
• Explaining how blockchain technology works in clear, plain language
• Helping clients understand what digital assets are (and aren’t)
• Discussing custody options, risks, and security considerations
• Providing education on regulatory and compliance frameworks
• Helping investors think through how digital assets may intersect with a broader financial plan
• Separating hype from substance so decisions are informed, not emotional

The financial world is changing — and staying informed is part of the responsibility I take seriously on behalf of the families and individuals I serve.

Always learning. Always evolving.
