You don’t have to own a business to need estimated tax payments.

Have a rental property? Earn money from investments? Pick up some side work? Those can all affect your taxes, even if you already have taxes taken out of your paycheck.

It comes down to how much you’re paying in throughout the year. If your withholding isn’t covering enough, estimated payments may be needed.

Filed a tax extension? October 15 is quickly approaching!

If Goodman Bookkeeping & Tax Services is preparing your extended 2025 individual tax return, please send us your remaining documents as soon as possible. Receiving your information promptly gives our team time to review your records, follow up on missing items and complete your return before the deadline.

Remember: An extension gives you additional time to file. It does not extend the deadline to pay taxes owed.

Scam calls and messages are getting harder to spot. They may use an official sounding title, know your name, or make a warning feel urgent.

Pause if someone claims:
• You owe the IRS and must pay immediately.
• The sheriff will arrest you unless you send money.
• A family member is in trouble and needs money right now.
• Your Apple Pay or another account has been compromised and you need to call the number in a text.

Don’t click the link, call the number in the message, or send money. Contact the agency, company, or family member directly using a number you find yourself.

Scammers count on catching us in a distracted moment. Take a minute to verify before you act.

Local budget deficits are a growing concern, and your municipal income taxes need to be on your radar.

If you are required to make local estimated tax payments, please do not put them off. These are required payments, and falling behind can mean penalties, interest and a balance that becomes harder to manage.

The September 15 estimated payment deadline has passed. If you missed a payment or aren’t sure you’re current, now is the time to address it.

Please check your federal and state estimated payments, too. Paying one does not take care of the others.
