A strong financial plan isn't built only for what you expect. It's built for what you don't.

Most people spend time thinking about savings, investments, and retirement goals.

But an important part of planning is also considering the uncertainties we all face.

What happens if there's a major health event?
What happens if a lawsuit, disability, or unexpected life change impacts your plans?

Risk management isn't about assuming the worst. It's about preparing for life's uncertainties so they don't derail the future you're working hard to build.

The best financial plans balance opportunity with protection.

If I could share one retirement planning tip, it would be this: know your expenses.

Most people have a good idea of how much money is coming in.

What's often harder to identify is exactly where the money is going.

Understanding your spending habits can help create a more realistic retirement plan, give you greater confidence in your future income needs, and reduce surprises down the road.

Retirement planning starts with understanding your lifestyle today so you can prepare for the lifestyle you want tomorrow.

Do you track your monthly expenses?

One of the most common questions I hear is: "Do I still need life insurance?"

The answer often depends on where you are in life's journey. When you're first married, life insurance may help protect a spouse. When children come along, it may help provide financial support for the family. As a homeowner, it can help address mortgage obligations and other financial commitments.

But retirement can change the conversation.

For some people, life insurance may no longer be about income replacement. Instead, it may become part of a broader legacy planning strategy, helping support loved ones or causes that are important to them.

Like many financial decisions, the right answer depends on your goals, your resources, and what you're hoping to accomplish.

Medicare Open Enrollment will be here before you know it.

Each year, from October 15 through December 7, Medicare beneficiaries have an opportunity to review their current coverage and evaluate whether their plan still fits their healthcare needs.

Plans, costs, provider networks, and prescription coverage can change from year to year, so it's important to take time to understand your options.

To help, we'll be hosting several educational Medicare webinars designed to walk through important considerations and answer common questions!

When people hear "life insurance," they often think of one thing: a death benefit.

And that's understandable. For many families, life insurance can help provide financial support when it's needed most. But in some situations, it may also play a role in a broader legacy planning strategy.

For example, some individuals use life insurance as a way to leave a financial gift to children, grandchildren, or charitable organizations they care deeply about. The key is understanding how all the pieces of your financial plan work together and whether a particular strategy aligns with your goals.

Life insurance isn't just about what happens when you're gone. It's about the impact you hope to make along the way. When you think about legacy, what matters most to you?

One of my favorite fall traditions is celebrating Oktoberfest with family and friends.🥨🍺

My wife Maria's family has German roots, and each year we host an Oktoberfest gathering in our backyard.

What I enjoy most isn't just the food or the tradition. It's bringing people together.

As life gets busier, opportunities to gather with friends, share stories, laugh, and make memories become even more meaningful. Fall has a way of creating those moments, whether it's a football game, a family gathering, an Oktoberfest celebration, or simply spending time with the people you care about.

What's a tradition you look forward to every fall?🍂

A common misconception I hear is: "Life insurance is too expensive."

In many cases, people are basing that opinion on a quote they received years ago or a policy that may not have been the right fit for their needs.

The truth is that life insurance isn't one-size-fits-all.

There are different types of coverage, different planning objectives, and a wide range of options depending on your situation.

For some families, life insurance may help provide income protection. For others, it could support broader risk management or legacy planning goals. The key is understanding your options and determining whether coverage fits into your overall financial plan.

One of the things I'm looking forward to this fall is spending time learning and connecting with other professionals who are passionate about serving clients well.

Professional growth never really stops.

I always enjoy opportunities to step away from the day-to-day, hear new perspectives, explore fresh ideas, and think about how we can continue improving the experience we provide to the families we serve.

Events like these are a great reminder that the best professionals are lifelong learners.

As we head into the final months of the year, I'm energized by what's ahead and excited about the opportunities that 2027 may bring.

What are you most looking forward to this fall?

The outdoors has a funny way of keeping us humble.

As a hunter, I enjoy spending time in the woods every fall. There's something special about being outside, slowing down, and enjoying nature.

But sometimes the experiences become even better than the harvest.

Whether it's hunting, hiking, fishing, or simply being outdoors, I've always appreciated the lessons nature has a way of teaching us: patience, perspective, and a good sense of humor.

What's your favorite way to spend time outdoors? 🍂
