The bittersweet, scary, exciting day has come. After 18 years we have left the building. Most of you have seen how crowded this building has become and when the right opportunity became available we had to take the chance. While we are moving on, the insurance side of the space is staying put and has plans to expand into the whole building and freshen up the space a bit. This is bittersweet and exciting for the Dorris family as well!

As of October 1, we are in a transition period and will remain closed. Since we have no physical location our phones are not in service at this time. Our new office space is being prepped for us and we hope to see you from our new spot at 1114 S. Washington Ave. If things go as planned (!) we will be able to open the new doors on October 15th.

A reminder that this FRIDAY, September 25th is the LAST DAY we are open in our current location. We will be packing up to make the move to our NEW LOCATION! We are looking forward to serving you from our new offices at 1114 S. Washington Avenue as soon as we can, tentatively October 15th.

Not tax related but if you consistently reach the upper limits of payments and you are structured as an LLC or S-Corp, you need to look into this before deadline tomorrow.

A little hint of what’s coming next.

Be looking in your mailbox for the details. I would open this letter, if I were you; you might get left behind if you don’t.

This week we will be contacting those that owe us information to finish up 2025 tax returns. If there’s no way you can be ready to complete your return in the next 5 days, there’s likely no way we can help you.

Reminder for quarterly estimated tax payers…. Third quarter payment is due September 15th. Payments are expected to be made electronically. Go to www.irs.gov/payments to make your payment.

Tuesday September 15 is the FINAL DEADLINE for business entity returns-1065, 1120-S- on extension to be filed without penalty. If you still owe us information, your time has run out. We’re here til 5-ish today September 11. Dani is out of the office for doctor appointments pretty much all day on the 14th. Today is probably “it” to get us information.

There are other extended returns out there- 1040’s- that need to be filed soon. We are closing the doors for good on our current location on September 25th. We need to have everything done by then. September 18 is the last day to get info on to us to be completed before we make our big move in October.

I attended the IRS Tax Forum in New York City last week. The good parts are hearing from top experts in our field, and getting a feel for “what’s next” at the IRS.
The bad parts are the exhaustion and turning your computer on to check emails for the first time in 7 days. At least it’s not busy season! Glad to be back!

We have a few days left to get extended returns completed and filed. Our goal is to have everything done by September 15th. Those few of you affected should have been notified my mail last week.

For those of you with the freshly released K-1 from MnSP in your hands, Dani cancelled all plans for the next two weeks and will be in the office Monday through Thursday 10-4 for dropping off the K-1 envelope and picking up finished returns. Better yet, scan them into your portals and save yourself the trip! She leaves again for IRS Tax Forum in New York, NY on the 15th so let’s make an effort to drown her in tax returns and get these things done!

The time has come…school is out and summer jobs have started. Most weeks, the phone doesn’t even ring. We’re like Maytag repairmen that way.
