Wells Fargo is investing in our branch network — modernizing spaces, listening to customer needs, and providing employees with new tools to simplify transactions.
And what better place to commemorate this work than the nation’s capital? On Nov. 17, we celebrated the grand re-opening of our Georgetown branch and, with it, the refresh of every Wells Fargo branch in the country by 2029.
The branch system remains essential to Wells Fargo’s retail banking business. That’s why branches like Georgetown feature a new design, inspired by customer and employee feedback, with informative messaging displays and a floor plan allowing for in-depth conversation and consultation with customers. The Georgetown branch also features an American Sign Language (ASL)-enabled tablet to improve the customer experience for ASL-preferring individuals.
“While more customers embrace mobile and online banking, we know many still value face-to-face service,” said Sophia Dadas, Head of Branch Strategy & Market Growth at Wells Fargo. “Georgetown reflects the communities we serve and shows how we’re blending modern tools with personable teams to deepen our presence in D.C., where we now operate two dozen branches.”
The grand re-opening also included a special coin exchange in honor of Stacey Park Milbern, a former Wells Fargo employee and disability rights advocate. The quarters are from the U.S. Mint’s American Women Quarters Program™ — a program honoring trailblazers like Milbern.
“The incredible strength Stacey showed as a champion and advocate for people with disabilities is awe-inspiring,” said Dadas. “Her legacy as the first Korean American and first person in a wheelchair to be featured on U.S. currency lives on through her work and the quarters program.”
In 2024, we celebrated Milbern’s accomplishments by renaming our scholarship for students with disabilities. Since 2017, the Wells Fargo Stacey Milbern Scholarship has awarded more than $1.7 million in scholarships to students with disabilities.
