Nigeria’s Sovereignty Has Been Surrendered
Nigeria’s sovereignty has been hijacked — not by foreign powers, but by criminal gangs and corrupt federal officials who operate as a “deep state,” wielding more influence than elected politicians. Federal civil servants treat their positions as private enterprises, exploiting citizens as commodities for profit.
I am not by nature a government critic. As a Nigerian American, I speak here only from personal experience. Between August and November 2025, while exporting two containers from the United States to Nigeria, I encountered the Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigeria Police at Tin Can Island Port. What I witnessed revealed the extent of corruption and lawlessness under the Tinubu administration.
My Experience
Clearing containers in Nigeria is like walking into the hands of kidnappers. Customs officials demand bribes as ransom before releasing goods.
I was asked to pay ₦500,000 as a “CIU bribe” — 5% of the ₦10 million official customs assessment fee already paid to the government.

Even after paying ₦200,000 at Tin Can Island Police Station, Oladimeji continued to threaten me for more money.
My supposed customs agent did not act as my own agent but Agent of the Custom officers; he worked for Custom officers not for the Importer. (Garba Mustapha Ibrahim - Garuba880 of Himshat Motors Nigeria Ltd.), colluded with GMT bonded warehouse staff to issue fake invoices, charging ₦4,275,827 in demurrage before my container could be released.
This system mirrors terrorism: just as kidnappers hold victims until ransom is paid, government officials hold containers hostage until bribes are delivered.
A Nation in Captivity
What is happening in Nigeria today is worse than the slave trade. Politicians, law enforcement agents, and government officials have turned citizens into slaves, normalizing abduction, extortion, and exploitation.
Even religion is weaponized. During one bribe negotiation, a customs officer paused to pray in a mosque inside the government office before agreeing to accept ₦200,000. Corruption has become intertwined with religious and traditional authority, making reform nearly impossible.
A Failed State
Nigeria under Tinubu operates as a failed state. Citizens are trapped between terrorists in the bush and corrupt officials in government offices. Both demand ransom for survival.
I ask: what is the difference between Boko Haram and Nigeria Customs officials to an importer? Both extort, both enslave, both terrorize.
My Radio License Struggle
Over a year ago, I submitted an application for an FM radio license to the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission, paying ₦3.5 million. To date, no response. Why? Because approval requires yet another “ransom” in Abuja. Until I pay, my completed radio station — Commonsense Communications Network (CCN) — remains idle.
Conclusion
IBU TINUBU: Nigerians are not swimming in a pool, as the international community imagines. We are drowning in an ocean of corruption and banditry, struggling to survive against both government officials and terrorists.
Nigeria does not need another “leader.” It needs a deliverer — someone who can break the chains of corruption, religion, and tradition that enslave the nation.

The types of property subject to personal property tax varies by location but often includes business equipment and vehicles, boats and aircraft owned for personal use etc. and not all governments impose personal property tax.
