A news release says Treasury won’t enforce fines or penalties against U.S. citizens or domestic reporting companies or their beneficial owners. Treasury will also issue proposed rulemaking to limit beneficial ownership information reporting to foreign reporting companies only.

The stay of the nationwide injunction means that the government can enforce the beneficial ownership information reporting requirements, but it’s not clear what happens next.

New requirement update!
Beginning January 1, 2024, new businesses will have 90 days to report ownership information to FinCen.Gov. Existing businesses will have until the end of 2024 to report ownership information. There are hefty fines for not complying, so do not get caught unaware of this new requirement!
