Top 3 Learnings from last night's networking event, by top KC leadership consultant Denise Mills:
1. Have a positive story in your pocket when people ask "How are you?" and don't respond "Good" or "Fine" anymore. Instead say, "I'm doing great, I'm excited about X" and drop in a positive story.
2. When you attend networking events, take a second to think about something you need or what you want to get out of the event. There are a lot of people who attend with a lot of different backgrounds who know a lot of people. You're investing time in networking, so you should get return for your investment.
3. Networking events are all about Manners and Honesty. When entering a conversation, use Manners to enter a conversation and apologize for interrupting. To exit a conversation, use Honesty to excuse yourself to say you'd like to greet other folks.
I hope these are some useful tips you can use at networking events in the future!
