Amended Tax Return 📃

1️⃣ Know when to amend
Amend if you👇🏾
• Forgot income (W-2, 1099, side hustle)
DIDN’T CLAIM THE OVERTIME DEDUCTION (UP TO $12,500) OVERTIME‼️
• Claimed the wrong filing status
• Added/removed a dependent
• Missed credits (CTC, EITC, education credits)
• IRS sent a letter saying something don’t match

❌ Don’t amend just because your refund is “taking too long.

2️⃣ Wait until the original return is processed
If you amend too early, IRS will ignore it or delay both returns.

3️⃣ You might OWE or get MORE
• If you owe → pay ASAP to stop penalties
• If you’re owed → interest might be added

4️⃣ 3-Year Rule
You usually have 3 years from the original filing date to amend and get money back.
