Dr. Rickiesha A. Evans, DNP, APRN, PMHNP‑BC, (Dr. Rae) is a board‑certified psychiatric nurse practitioner with more than a decade of experience across critical care, behavioral health, and advanced psychiatric practice. She began her career after earning her BSN from Northwestern State University, where she developed a deep respect for patient stories and the power of compassionate, intentional care.
She went on to complete both her MSN and Doctor of Nursing Practice at the University of South Alabama, where her doctoral work centered on shared decision‑making and treatment engagement. During this time, Dr. Rae saw firsthand how traditional, rushed, insurance‑driven models often left patients unheard, unsupported, and disconnected from their own treatment. Her research made one truth impossible to ignore: patients heal best when they feel seen, respected, and treated like partners, not numbers.
