🚨 Important IRS Refund Changes Starting in 2026 🚨
Beginning with the 2026 tax filing season, the IRS is moving away from paper refund checks and shifting to mostly electronic payments.
🔹 What’s changing?
• If you don’t include direct deposit info, your refund may be frozen until you add it or request a paper-check exception online
• Paper checks won’t be automatic anymore if a deposit is missing or rejected
• Rejected deposits will now be held until you fix the issue
• Without approved exceptions, refunds could be delayed at least 6 weeks
• Federal payroll refunds will require banking information starting in 2026
💳 Good news:
The IRS is expanding digital options, including prepaid debit cards and digital wallets, for people without traditional bank accounts.
👉 Bottom line:
To avoid delays, make sure your banking information is accurate when you file your taxes.
🚨 PATH Act Refund Update — 2026 🚨
The IRS begins accepting returns Jan 26, 2026.
If you claim EITC or the Additional Child Tax Credit, your refund may not be released until mid-February due to PATH Act rules.
💸 Most refunds for these credits are expected in late Feb (around Feb 25 for early filers).
Filing early helps, but refund timing is still delayed by law.
⚠️Estimated timing — not a guarantee.
📣 The IRS officially opens TOMORROW! 🙌Filing early can mean faster refunds and fewer delays.
✅ Book your appointment today and let’s get you filed right! 💰

🚨There is a lot of misinformation being shared online about who can claim a child on taxes — especially when child support is involved. Here is the real IRS rule 👇
✅FACT: Child Support Does NOT Determine Who Claims a Child
Paying child support does not give a parent the right to claim the child on their taxes.
The IRS only looks at one thing:
👉Which parent the child lived with the MOST nights during the year. 👇
That parent is called the custodial parent, and they have the automatic right to claim:
Head of Household
Earned Income Credit (EIC)
Dependent Care Credit
Child Tax Credit (unless released)
📝How a Non-Custodial Parent Can Legally Claim the Child
The ONLY way a non-custodial parent can claim the child is if the custodial parent signs:
IRS Form 8332 – Release of Claim to Exemption
The custodial parent must sign and provide this form to the non-custodial parent.
Otherwise, the IRS will not allow the claim — even if child support is paid.
❌Things Form 8332 Does NOT Release:
Even with Form 8332, the following stay with the custodial parent only:
Earned Income Credit
Head of Household status
Dependent Care Credit
These cannot be transferred under any circumstances.🔒
Bottom Line for Parents
✔️ Child support does NOT determine who claims the child
✔️ The custodial parent has the final say
✔️ Form 8332 is required for a non-custodial parent to claim the child
✔️ If 8332 is not signed, the IRS will reject the claim
