When meeting with new parents, there are understandably a lot of things on their mind. My role as your advisor is to make sure the correct financial steps are in order. Here are a few things to consider as a new parent!
1️⃣ Updating beneficiaries & setting up will.
Having minor children can make estate planning more complex than before. Be sure to prepare for the unexpected & direct your assets where YOU want them to go.
2️⃣ Adding children to health insurance & workplace benefits
Healthcare expenses for children can be high. Make sure children are added within the enrollment window for your employer plans.
3️⃣ Consider a child savings plan
Accounts such as 529 plans, custodial accounts and even the newly available “Trump accounts” on July 5th are great tools to set your children up for the future!
