Before your kids head out the door, make sure they know how to get to school safely, no matter how they are getting there. Here are a few tips to keep in mind:
đľWalking to school? Stick to sidewalks, cross only at crosswalks, make eye contact with drivers before stepping into the street, and always walk in a group when possible.
đľRiding a bike? A properly fitted helmet is non-negotiable. Remind students to ride on the right side of the road with traffic, come to a complete stop before crossing, and choose a route with minimal intersections and light traffic.
đľTaking the bus? Students should stand at least 6 feet back from the curb when waiting for a bus, wait for the bus to come to a complete stop before boarding, and never walk behind or in front of a bus without making eye contact with the driver first.
đľGetting dropped off? If you drive your child to school, obey school zone speed limits, follow your school's drop-off procedure, and never pass a bus that is loading or unloading children.
đľTeen drivers? Review the basics of safe driving. This includes, but is not limited to, having all passengers wear seatbelts, putting devices away while driving, and driving the speed limit.
We hope you find these tips helpful as students transition back to school. As always, if you have any needs or questions, do not hesitate to reach out to our team. We are happy to help.

August is National Eye Exam Month, a perfect reminder to schedule your annual eye exam if you havenât already.
A comprehensive annual eye exam is covered by most vision plans, meaning you can obtain this key preventive care as easily as scheduling your appointment.
Additionally, these exams can do more for your health than just update your prescription. Your eyes can reveal early warning signs of serious health conditions that you might not know about otherwise, including:
đď¸ Hypertension - Irregularities in the eye's blood vessels can signal high blood pressure before other symptoms appear.
đď¸ High cholesterol - A yellowish tint or patch around the cornea or eyelid may indicate elevated cholesterol levels.
đď¸ Autoimmune disorders - Inflammation in the eye can be an early sign of conditions like lupus.
đď¸ Thyroid disease - Bulging or protruding eyes are often associated with thyroid-related conditions.
đď¸ Cancer - Unusual structures within the eye can indicate ocular melanoma, and changes around the eyelids may reveal certain skin cancers.
If it has been more than a year since your last eye exam, let this month be your reminder to get it on the calendar.
Not sure what your vision benefits cover? Give our team a call. We are happy to help you take a look.

If youâve ever loaned your car to a friend or borrowed someone elseâs vehicle, you may have wondered what happens if an accident occurs. Would the vehicle ownerâs insurance apply â or would the driverâs policy take over?
In most situations, auto insurance follows the vehicle first, not the driver. That means the car's policy is usually the primary source of coverage in the event of an accident. However, thatâs not always the case. Swipe for some key details about when the vehicle ownerâs policy kicks in and when the driverâs policy is used.
If youâre ever unsure how your coverage applies, want to double-check your policy, or layer on additional auto coverages, weâre always happy to take a look with you. Feel free to give our team a call. We are here to be a resource for you.
