2025 extension payments are due 4/15/26.
2026 first quarter estimate payments are due 4/15/26.
both of these are for federal and state.
you should remit electronically to have a receipt and insure the payment was processed correctly.

if you want a paper check refund from the irs you will be waiting a lot longer to receive it:

dont let this be you. if you dont know who you are talking/emailing/facebooking with, dont give them any cash or debit cards, etc. this is tragic.

It started with a pop-up on his laptop. Once it was over, a Kalamazoo County man was down more than $1 million after emptying his retirement and bank accounts at the instruction of the caller, later revealed to be a scammer.

the post office is changing processes and may change the date mail is postmarked to the next day. this could materially impact penalties on your tax return. not all forms can currently be filed electronically.
Postmarks no longer prove date of mailing
Just dropping that tax return off at your local post office may no longer be proof that you met the deadline.
