Sometimes I think the hardest decisions aren’t between something important and something that doesn’t matter. They’re between two things that both matter.

Helping someone you love. Saving for the future. Taking care of something today. Working toward something you’ve wanted for years.

It would be easier if one choice were obviously wrong. But usually life isn’t that tidy.

Sometimes the real question is: when I can’t do everything at once, what matters most right now?

Everything can’t be the priority.

But sometimes life doesn’t seem to get that message.

Work. Family. People we love. Goals we’re working toward. Responsibilities we can’t simply set aside. Then add headlines, markets and all the opinions about what we should be doing next.

When everything feels important, how do you know you’re making the right money decisions for you?

That’s what I’ve been thinking about in this month’s A Monthly Note from Susan.

Rising rates have grabbed headlines, but they're only one inning in a much longer game. Easing inflation, healthy consumer spending and growing corporate profits point to an economy that remains on solid footing.

Selling or transitioning a business can take years of planning — but you don't have to do it alone. Let's find time to discuss how my team can help.

I’ve been thinking this month about the difference between certainty and confidence. We can’t know exactly what the markets will do next. We can’t predict every change in the economy. And we certainly can’t control every unexpected turn life might take. So maybe confidence doesn’t come from knowing what’s going to happen.

Maybe it comes from knowing what matters to you, understanding the things you can control, and having a plan for moving forward even when you don’t have all the answers. I’d rather have that kind of confidence than spend my time trying to predict what happens next.

At the beginning of the month, I was thinking about how difficult it can be when everything feels important.

Maybe the answer isn’t figuring out how to make everything a priority. Maybe it’s getting clearer about what matters enough to guide the decisions we make when we can’t do everything at once. That won’t make every decision easy. But it can give us somewhere to start.

And sometimes the next right decision is enough.

Let what matters most guide your next financial decision.

Bond yields recently climbed to their highest levels in decades as investors weighed sticky inflation, booming AI investment and robust economic growth. In this evolving environment, higher interest rates are creating new opportunities in fixed income while shifting market leadership across equities.
