I miss typos, subject/verb disagreements, inconsistent use of tenses, and sentences that don’t make sense. I miss imperfections in writing.

The problem with everyone using AI, is that we all sound the same now. Every post is carefully curated with a beginning, middle, end, a hook, a call to action (CTA), maticulously placed emojis and perfectly selected hashtags.

From an accounting perspective, more and more fintech solutions are popping up and it’s exciting, but also scary. Originally the goal was to replace the mundane, repetitive parts of our work to allow for more strategic thinking, but there are some employees who actually like that part of the work - who thrive in repeated processes that require an insanely high attention to detail.

The work world is shifting, and so is the foundation, the entry level, the part of our jobs that built long lasting soft skills that serve us well into our careers. And yet, there’s something beautiful about developing critical thinking and problem solving skills sooner in our careers.

So which side am I on? 🤔 The jury is still out. I embrace AI wholeheartedly, but I reject certain aspects of it. Primary the parts that attempt to replace human existence and has us all sounding the same (like iRobot). For example, I’m 100% not on board with AI-generated music.

This entire post is random and there’s really no point to it other than to flex my brain muscles 💪🏾 and keep them active. If you don’t use it, you lose it, right? 😏

P.S. I personally use AI for posting so I’m talking to and about myself too!

🍯 Baking with Bee: Budgeting Biscuits 🍯

What do biscuits have to do with saving money?

More than you might think. In this episode, I use a simple homemade biscuit recipe to illustrate a powerful budgeting lesson: small, consistent ingredients create something bigger over time. The same is true for savings.

Recipe:
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 Tbsp baking powder
• 1 Tbsp sugar
• 1 tsp salt
• 6 Tbsp cold unsalted butter
• ¾ cup milk (I add a little extra milk as needed)
• Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 12 minutes, or until lightly golden. Based on the Sugar Spun Run recipe.

What's one small habit that's helping you build your savings right now? Let me know below! 👇

Three weeks in, and Sunny is already shifting the marketing game at Your CFO Friend 👀

As his boss (and his mom 😅) — his curiosity, fresh ideas, and hustle have turned early lessons into real momentum.

Hiring my own kid was a risk. Watching him grow into the work? Worth every bit of it.
Excited to see what he builds next 🚀

People often want to jump into investing, but the first step is learning to separate yourself from your money. Create simple rules, practice a little emotional distance, and let your goals — not your feelings — guide your decisions.

Small habits build long-term confidence. 💛

I had a wonderful conversation with my therapist last week. I’ll let the video do the talking, but let me know if you can relate. ✨

Still processing this one. ❤️🏆

I was honored to receive NABA’s Michael Winston “Walking the Road Less Traveled” Award, which recognizes accounting professionals who have taken an unconventional path and used their expertise in unique ways.

I can still remember sitting in college realizing that public accounting wasn’t for me and wondering what that meant for my future. At the time, it felt like everyone else had the map and I had somehow missed the meeting where they handed it out.

Since then, my path has included nonprofit finance, teaching accounting, creating financial literacy content, writing a children’s book, and building Your CFO Friend.

Looking back, the common thread has always been helping people understand things that feel complicated.

I’m incredibly grateful to NABA for this recognition and to everyone who has been part of the journey.

And to my mom: I guess all those times I didn’t listen eventually worked out. 😊

Sometimes the road less traveled leads exactly where you’re supposed to be. ✨

P.S. This reel was created by Sunny, my 14-year-old summer intern. Some kids spend the summer at camp. My son is learning video editing, marketing, content creation, and deadlines. 😊
