I had the opportunity to spend my lunch hour with The Houston Area Urban League during this year's Advancing Opportunity Luncheon held at the Hilton America's in Downtown Houston.
The theme of this year's luncheon was Mobility In Motion, focusing on investments in people, pathways, and progress to help our community prosper economically.
The resilience of Houstonians, our innovation in business, and our support for each other during national disasters were key points in the discussion that truly resonated with me.
Houstonians have historically faced a wide variety of challenges, including energy busts, hurricanes, industrial accidents, pandemics, and the growing pains of developing into a world-class city.
Yet, we maintain a sense of optimism when life throws curveballs.
We power through challenges.
We find ways to figure things out together.
