Don’t Raise a Broke Adult: Teach These 3 Lessons Early

If your kid can operate an iPad, they can understand how money works.

Teach them now, while the stakes are low. Because the world is more than ready to teach them debt, payments, and instant gratification.

Your job is to get there first.

Lesson 1: Work equals money.

No one is handing out paychecks for free. Kids need to connect effort with reward.
No allowance just for existing.

Instead, pay them commission. They do the work, they get paid. They don’t work, they don’t get paid. That’s how the real world works, and they’ll respect money more because of it.

Lesson 2: Save before you spend.

Delayed gratification is one of the most important skills a kid can learn.

Let them wait for the toy. Let them save for the thing they want. They’ll learn to plan ahead instead of beg later.

That’s how you raise a kid who doesn’t become a broke, impatient adult.

Lesson 3: Giving is a habit, not a moment.

Teaching your kid to give from every dollar isn’t just about generosity. It teaches gratitude, perspective, and purpose.

A kid who learns to give when they have a little is more likely to give when they have a lot. And that kind of heart is what the world needs more of.
