🚨 The Saver’s Match starts in 2027.
It replaces the current Saver’s Credit and, instead of simply reducing your tax bill, could put federal matching dollars into your retirement account.
💰 HOW MUCH?
• Government matches 50% of up to $2,000 contributed
• Up to $1,000 per person
• Up to $2,000 for a married couple if both qualify and contribute
2027 INCOME LIMITS (MAGI)
Single / MFS
Full match: $20,500 or less
Phases out completely at $35,500
Head of Household
Full match: $30,750 or less
Phases out completely at $53,250
Married Filing Jointly
Full match: $41,000 or less
Phases out completely at $71,000
📅 HOW IT WORKS
2027: Make your qualifying retirement contribution.
2028: Claim the match on your 2027 tax return using Form 8880-A.
Then: The government sends the qualifying match to your designated retirement account.
And it’s not a one-time benefit — you may qualify again each year you meet the requirements and contribute.
