Two years ago, my mother twisted her ankle on an acorn in her driveway, fell, and broke her wrist.
That moment changed the way I looked at her home.
I wasn't looking at it as an accessibility professional.
I was looking at it as a daughter.
And suddenly, I noticed things I had walked past for years:
• Dim lighting
• Throw rugs
• Missing grab bars
• Places where a small change could make a big difference
Here's the uncomfortable truth:
We often don't see the risks in our parents' homes until something happens.
A fall.
A hospitalization.
A diagnosis.
A change in mobility.
And then the family is expected to make a dozen decisions—quickly.
That experience was one of the catalysts for creating Ageless Accessibility Group.
Today, I help families step back, assess the situation, identify priorities, and create a practical path forward.
Because aging-in-place decisions shouldn't begin with panic.
They should begin with a plan.
And families shouldn't have to figure it out alone.
If you're helping a parent, spouse, or client navigate these decisions, I'm always happy to be a resource.
