What is Decentralized Finance? It is a fairly new area of finance, so Donovan, a member of the Christian Financial Adivsors Network, shares a little more insights on this topic, here:

For the last decade or so there’s been an interesting development in the finance sector that’s unlike anything we’ve ever seen. This recent development is decentralized finance, or DeFi for short. This is drastically different from traditional finance that we’ve come to accept as the norm.

If you have not reviewed your insurance coverage recently, now is a great time.

Life changes. Your coverage should change with it. A new baby, a new home, a career change, or a growing business can all create gaps in your protection.

Proverbs 27:12 says, "The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty."

Protecting your family is not about fear. It is about love and wisdom. Make sure the people who depend on you are covered.

Here is something I tell my clients often: 100% of your budget is the Lord's.

Sometimes we can think that we give 10% and then the other 90% is ours to do what we wish. But in reality, all of it belongs to God. The giving portion, the savings, the groceries, the mortgage.

We are stewards of all of it.

This does not mean we cannot enjoy the good gifts God gives us. It means we hold everything with open hands, grateful for the provision and mindful of the purpose.

Here are three biblical concepts we can apply to our investment portfolios.

In God's word we find wisdom. James 1:5 (ESV) says, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given." His word reveals Himself leading us to worship Him, and His word reveals how He intended us to live a flourishing life. W

We recently wrote about a concept found in the old testament - Gleaning and Margin - and reviewed how to apply this to our modern finances. Margin can be used for generosity towards the marginalized; a chance to remember God; and the practice of rest.

The concepts of gleaning and creating margin are themes that are periodically commanded and mentioned within the Old Testament and for good reason. But what does this mean for us Christians living according to the New Covenant through Christ?

"Gratitude is our bodies’ natural antidepressant. Researchers at UCLA find that gratitude changes the 'neural structures in the brain and make[s] us feel happier and more content.'" Here is a practical guide from the Christian Financial Advisor Network to help cultivate gratitude.

Normally, the holidays are filled with joyous anticipation. Within a span of three months in the U.S., we move from Halloween to Thanksgiving to Christmas to New Year’s Eve. It is time to celebrate! And yet, we find ourselves in a very different situation this year.

Joy is the engine of sacrifice.

Frederick Bruner writes that about Matthew 13:44, where the man finds treasure in a field and sells everything he has to buy the field. He does it "in his joy."

Not duty. Not obligation. Not guilt. Joy.

This is the secret to generosity. It is not about trying harder to give more. It is about seeing the surpassing worth of knowing Christ.

When Jesus becomes our greatest treasure, everything else we hold becomes lighter. Easier to share. Easier to release.

I wrote more about this parable here:

“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.” Matthew 13:44 This one sentence parable has been on my mind quite a bit recently. Jesus shares back-to-back parables (this and the ...

The Bible delivers many instructions for how to interact with money. In the New Testament, Paul specifically mentors Timothy on how Christians should handle money. Remember to be "rich" in works (not just financially "rich"). Also, enjoy your wealth by being generous and ready to share. On the other hand, do not be haughty or prideful regarding your money, and do not set your hopes on the uncertainty of riches.

A look at 1 Timothy 6:17-19 and what it tells Christians they should do, and not do, to have a healthy relationship with money.

Financial finish lines are one of the most countercultural things a family can do.

A finish line is simply saying: "This is enough for us. Beyond this point, we will direct our resources toward generosity and Kingdom impact."

You can set finish lines for income, for net worth, or for windfalls like bonuses and inheritances.

These are not rigid rules. They are prayerfully determined guideposts that help you hold God's money with open hands.

And here is the beautiful thing: the families I know who have set finish lines are some of the most joyful and free people I have ever met.
