I can’t believe it another tax season is here and this one really snuck up on me. I am so far behind this year. I can’t believe it. I will get the tax document collector out just as soon as I can hopefully this week yet.

For those of you who are making energy efficient home improvements be sure and bring in a picture of label that contains make model and serial number of your new boiler or furnace or heat pump, so we can easily verify that it qualifies for the energy efficient home improvement credit. Some windows and doors can also qualify for this credit. Insulation is a really good investment as you can get up to 30% of your cost back with the energy efficient home improvement credit. The credit is good for another seven years so you might want to lay out an energy efficient home improvement plan so you can maximize the credit every year.

I had a client informed me that I can no longer use the A word so I inquired what should I use? She replied OCD.  I have always felt in order to be a good tax practitioner. You have to be a little bit OCD. So here I am an a**l tax practitioner trying to put five different stamps on envelopes at almost 2 AM.

Tax season is rolling round! Starting with filing your 1099s! Just a reminder,

1. Filing hand written 1099s is a red flag!
2. Mailing in 1099s is a red flag!
3. When in doubt fill one out.

1099-MISC should be filed when payments are made in the course of your trade or business. Personal payments are not reportable.
