What do you really want?

I’ve been thinking about this question lately, and it’s surprisingly hard for me to answer.

I’m content with my life. I don’t necessarily want a bigger house, a nicer car, or more stuff.

But being content doesn’t mean there isn’t more I want to experience, create, contribute, or become.

That’s where my conversation with Jamie Berman gets goooood

Jamie is a money manifestation coach, and we talked about abundance, faith, surrender, identity, and figuring out what you actually want in this season of your life.

Of course, I had to bring it back to getting organized. 😊

What if you want an organized home, but you’ve spent years telling yourself, “I’m just not an organized person”?

Jamie offered a simple shift I want you to try:

“I’m holding the belief that I’m not organized.”

You’re holding a belief. It isn’t who you are.

And maybe it’s a belief you don’t want to carry into your future.

🎧 Episode 189: Manifesting an Organized Life, Abundance & What You Really Want with Jamie Berman

We talk about becoming the person who creates what she wants, taking action without knowing exactly HOW it will happen, and what to do when you genuinely don’t know what you want next.

What do you really want? And what if you’re not even sure how to answer that question?
In this episode, I’m talking with money manifestation coach Jamie Berman about what manifestation actually means and how it can help us create more of what we want from abundance in our businesses and lives to becoming a more organized version of ourselves.
Jamie shares how she went from being terrified of being seen and speaking in front of people to building a successful coaching business, and why learning to trust herself played such a big role in that transformation. We also talk about her decision to walk away from a successful niche when it no longer felt like the work she wanted to do.
We get into manifestation from a faith perspective, including Jamie’s belief that it can be about partnering with God rather than trying to control everything ourselves. She explains why getting clear on what you want matters, how visualization and vision boards can help, and why taking action and surrendering the outcome can exist together.
We also talk about what happens when you’re genuinely content with your life and don’t know what you want next. Jamie shares some really good questions for uncovering desires that have nothing to do with getting a bigger house, a nicer car, or more stuff.
And, of course, I ask her how all of this applies to getting organized. If you’ve spent years believing, “I’m just not an organized person,” what would happen if you started seeing yourself as someone who could become organized and began practicing being her?
In this episode, we talk about:

What manifestation actually means and how Jamie approaches it through faith
Getting clear on what you really want
Being content with your life while still allowing yourself to desire more
Using vision boards, visualization, journaling, and other practices
How your beliefs and identity influence what you create
Becoming the person you want to be before you fully believe you’re her
Taking action without needing to know exactly how everything will happen
Trusting yourself when you feel called to make a change
Surrendering the outcome instead of trying to control it

If you’ve been thinking about what you want in this next season or wondering whether you’re even allowed to want something more when your life is already good, I think you’ll love this conversation.

You can have a pile of papers on the counter and still be an organized person.

But does your brain believe that? 😬

For a lot of us, it takes about two seconds to go from seeing something out of order to:

“I’m so disorganized.”
“I can never keep up.”
“Why can’t I stay organized?”

We take something that needs our attention and turn it into evidence about who we are.

But what if being organized doesn’t mean your house stays organized all the time?

Think about it this way: If you’re a good cook and dinner isn’t made at 4:30, you don’t suddenly decide you’ve lost the ability to cook. 😂 You know you can make dinner when dinner needs to be made.

Organization works the same way.

An organized person is someone who knows how to create order when and where she needs it.

The kitchen gets messy? You know how to reset it.

Papers pile up? You know how to make decisions about them.

Your closet gets too full? You know how to decide what stays.

Your schedule gets crazy? You know how to regroup.

That’s being and “feeling”organized.

In this week’s episode of The Organized Coach Podcast, I’m talking about why you can be doing all the “right” things and STILL not “feel” organized and the old script that keeps you from seeing how organized you actually are.

You’ve decluttered. You’ve created systems. You actually know how to organize. So why can one pile of papers on the counter make you feel like you’re a complete mess?
There’s a big difference between being disorganized and feeling disorganized. And what’s happening around you doesn’t have to become evidence of who you are.
In this episode, I share a recent coaching example of a client who came to our call feeling like a “hot mess,” even though she’s actually very organized. What she really had were open loops. Once we identified what needed to happen and when she was going to do it, nothing had actually been completed—but she felt completely different.
That’s because feeling organized isn’t about the absence of disorder. It’s about your relationship to the disorder that’s currently there.
We’ll talk about why “I’m a mess” feels so different from “These papers need decisions,” how our old 10-second scripts become well-worn paths in our brains, and why getting rid of more stuff may never make you feel organized if your definition of organized is “nothing left to organize.”
You’ll also hear two simple analogies—being a good cook and rerouting while driving—that will help you rethink what it actually means to be organized.
An organized person is someone who knows how to create order when and where she needs it.
In this episode, you’ll learn:

Why feeling disorganized is different from being disorganized
How open loops contribute to overwhelm
Why a pile of papers doesn’t determine whether you’re organized
How to replace judgment with thoughts that point you toward action
Why your definition of “organized” may be impossible to achieve
Why getting rid of more stuff won’t necessarily make you feel organized
How to start collecting evidence that you already know how to create order
Why getting back on track is evidence that you’re organized—not evidence that you failed

Instead of asking, “What still needs to be organized?” start noticing where you already demonstrate the skill of creating order.
You may already possess the skill you’ve been waiting for your house to prove you have.

You know you don’t need it. So why is it SO hard to let it go? 😩😩

Maybe you spent a lot of money on it.

Your mom gave it to you.

You thought you’d use it someday.

It represents the person you thought you’d become.

Or getting rid of it just feels…wrong.

This is why decluttering isn’t about the stuff. It’s about the emotions!!

On this week’s podcast, I talked with fellow professional organizer Lesley Spellman, cofounder of The Declutter Hub, about what’s really happening when we struggle to let something go.

One thing Lesley said:

“Getting rid of stuff is a byproduct of the decluttering process.”

We talked about guilt, aspiration, negative self-talk, and the stories we attach to our belongings. We also talked about why kindness toward yourself matters, where to start when you’re overwhelmed, and how having a bigger vision for your home can make those individual decisions easier.

One of my favorites was when we talked about decluttering so you don’t leave a mess for your kids someday.

That can be a powerful reason.

But Lesley asked: What about doing it for YOU? 🤯 Ummm yes please.

You’re living in your home right now.

You deserve to enjoy it now.

Decluttering is NOT about the stuff.
In this episode, I’m talking with professional organizer and Declutter Hub cofounder Lesley Spellman about what’s really happening underneath our clutter. We explore the emotions that can make letting go difficult, including guilt, aspiration, and the stories we attach to our belongings.
Lesley shares three key ingredients for decluttering success: kindness toward yourself, having a meaningful goal for your home, and being realistic about your space, energy, and season of life. We also talk about why starting somewhere easier can help you build your “decluttering muscle” before tackling the sentimental stuff.
Plus, we take a peek behind the scenes of The Declutter Hub to hear how Lesley and Ingrid organize their own business using Asana, SOPs, and simple systems that have evolved over time.
If you’ve ever wondered why you know you want to declutter but still have such a hard time letting things go, this conversation will help you understand what may really be keeping you stuck.

What’s keeping you from getting organized?
You may think you need more time, better systems, or more motivation. But often, there are two gaps between where you are now and where you want to be: a skill gap and a mindset gap.
In this episode, I break down both and show you how the SPACE Method helps you practice the skills of organizing, while your thoughts, beliefs, and identity can either move you forward or keep you stuck.
I also share a lesson I learned while cross-stitching a Christmas stocking and why organizing isn’t just about reaching the finished result. It’s about who you become in the process.
Plus, you’ll learn how to start building a “bank of evidence” with every small win so you can prove to yourself that becoming an organized person really is possible for you.
In this episode, you’ll learn:

The two gaps that may be keeping you from getting organized
Why organizing is a skill you can learn and practice
How perfectionism and your thoughts can keep you stuck
Why becoming organized is about more than your stuff
How to build a bank of evidence that you ARE becoming an organized person

If Point B is an organized home and a more organized you, you don’t have to wait until you arrive to feel successful. Start noticing the evidence that you’re already on your way and build your bank of evidence!

You KNOW what to do. So why aren’t you doing it? 😩🤔😟

Maybe you know you need to organize your office, clean up your files, work on that project, or make the decision you’ve been avoiding.

Usually, we decide the problem is discipline. We LACK it.

But what if it isn’t?

In Episode 185 of The Organized Coach Podcast, I’m talking with Samantha Hawley about what’s happening in the gap between knowing and doing.

One of my favorite questions from our conversation:

What am I getting from NOT doing this?

Sometimes procrastination is protecting us from something.

➡️ Organizing your office might feel like committing to an exhausting six hour project.
➡️ Sending the email might mean risking rejection.
➡️ Making the decision might mean facing discomfort.

Once we understand what’s underneath the resistance, we can stop trying to force ourselves into action and get curious instead.

Samantha also shares her five part process:

Awareness
Meaning
Curiosity
Clarity
Action

And one of my favorite reminders from our conversation:

“It’s okay to do a little bit.”

You don’t have to organize the whole office.

Just go file one piece of paper. Put away one mug. Do 15 minutes of sorting.

It all counts.

Have you ever thought, “I KNOW what to do. Why am I not doing it?”
Maybe you know you need to organize your office, clean up your files, work on your business, or take better care of yourself. But knowing and doing are two very different things.
In this episode, I’m talking with Samantha Hawley, host of the Beyond Awareness podcast, about what’s really happening when we know what to do but still aren’t doing it.
Samantha shares how our beliefs can keep us stuck and why more discipline isn’t always the answer. We also talk about journaling, all-or-nothing thinking, and her five prompts for moving from awareness to action.
You’ll learn:

Why knowing what to do isn’t enough
What your procrastination might be protecting you from
How all-or-nothing thinking keeps you stuck
Samantha’s five prompts: Awareness, Meaning, Curiosity, Clarity, and Action
Why doing a little bit still counts
How journaling can help you uncover what’s really going on

BIG QUESTION: What do YOU want next?

Can you answer that?

Maybe you have a BIG dream.

Maybe there’s one little thing that keeps coming up in your mind.

Or maybe you’re thinking, “I have NO idea.”

All three answers are okay.

This week on the podcast, I sat down with two of my best friends, Laurie Shopland and Kristin Dabney, to talk about dreams, goals, trusting yourself, and what finally makes us DO the things we’ve been thinking about doing.

And we made a BIG announcement. 🎉

For YEARS, the three of us have talked about hosting a retreat together.

Now we’re actually doing it!

ELEVATE is happening Saturday, October 17, at Kristin’s gorgeous lake home in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Just 20 women. (5 spots are already taken!)

Three coaches.

One beautiful day to step out of your normal life, be taken care of, connect with other women, and figure out the ONE area of your life you want to elevate next.

You’ll leave with clarity AND a plan for what to do about it.

And I want you to know:

You don’t have to have a dream to come. You might come to discover one. 🥳
